If this proposal makes Barnsdale Gardens close, it will be a travesty!!!

Stephen Cheetham (Peterborough, 2023-05-28)

#1603

Barnsdale should stay open and undisturbed for the enjoyment of all

Steve Norman (Northampton, 2023-05-28)

#1604

I’ve visited these wonderful and unique gardens and greatly appreciated the importance of their designs and the historical link to the BBC.

Susan Farrow (Radstock, 2023-05-28)

#1606

There is a better place for the solar farm. The Barnsdale Gardens are a beautiful, eco friendly environment. The farm would be better placed elsewhere; where it doesn't negatively impact family businesses that have positively contributed to the local community for years.

Duchesney Moitt (Leicester, 2023-05-28)

#1608

I agree wholeheartedly with this petition for all the reasons given. It would be totally wrong to jeopardise an existing business regardless of the reasons for building. Solar energy companies should demonstrate more sensitivity and awareness of their potential impact on the surrounding environment of their farms.

Dorothy Morrow (Tewkesbury, 2023-05-29)

#1610

It will cause Barnsdale Gardens to close with the resultant loss of gardening knowledge and plant equipment and plants being available to the general public.

Stephen Burton (Huntingdon, 2023-05-29)

#1611

This garden has been an inspiraton for so many gardeners. The peat-free and organic message has been, and still is, a hugely important message to promote.

Julie Tynegate (CHESTER, 2023-05-29)

#1613

I don’t want Barnsdale Gardens to close, it has been at the forefront of promoting organic garden principles for 40 years, and it has a hugely important role to play in developing environmental good gardening practices

Alison Henthorn (Peterborough, 2023-05-29)

#1614

So many people visit this garden and the peacefulness is essential to our mental health

Lyn Henson (PETERBOROUGH, 2023-05-29)

#1616

Having visited the gardens, whilst on holiday in the area, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I was looking forward to revisiting on future occasions. I found the gardens to be inspiring, and can only imagine the impact on the local community, should this oasis of peace and tranquility be lost.

Paul Prince (Wem, 2023-05-30)

#1618

I’m signing because I would not want Barnsdale Gardens to close due to what it represents. A legacy from a much loved and highly regarded gardener.

Diane Wells (York, 2023-05-30)

#1621

I love Barnsdale and it has provided such an amazing wildlife habitat, I thought they were playing the birdsong on a tape at first, but there are really that many birds singing.

Bertha Woods (lincoln, 2023-05-31)

#1627

Patricia Richards (Tonbridge, 2023-06-02)

#1641

Barnsdale has so much to offer in terms of peace and quiet. The idea of constant noise from solar panels would destroy the environment which this business has enjoyed for so long and given a lot of pleasurd to a lot of people. Please reconsider and put it further away.

Jenny Robinson (St. Neots, 2023-06-02)

#1642

We need to preserve nature and planting,

I have visited Barnsdale Gardens and it is a wonderful nursery and garden centre and tea rooms, we had a fantastic few hours looking at the gardens, and watching Geoff Hamilton gave me my love for plants and Gardening. Please put this Solar farm somewhere else, my goodness there are lots of fields to choose from in the Rutland area. Do not destroy Geoff's legacy of these beautiful gardens. please please move the planning away.

GILLIAN HASTINGS (BURNTWOOD, 2023-06-03)

#1651

Barnsdale Gardens is a really special place to visit, it's full of wildlife and nature and an inspiring green space to visit. Its a wonderful space and improves my mental health when I visit.

Maddy Hudson (Peterborough, 2023-06-04)

#1653

Barnstaple Gardens would be forced to close should this solar farm be opened which is not acceptable due to how well established this business is and has been for so many years.
There is another enormous solar plant proposed in Rutland, just a few miles away at Ryhall and Essendine. Do we really need both?

Suzanne Fryett (Stamford, 2023-06-04)

#1654

Barnsdale gardens ought to be internationally preserved as one of Britain’s unique beauty garden spots and one of BBC’s Gardener’s World educational gardens, filmed as it was forming, as Geoff Hamilton has passed away his original gardens are irreplaceable, it is his original and authentic living breathing legacy showcasing his rich knowledge, understanding and skill in garden design and production, his nursery have sold me the best examples of Veronica Ulster Dwarf Blue that I’ve ever found, I’m a landscape architect specifier, I’m looking constantly for the best of the best plants and for design inspiration, this place has it all.

Kay Gardner (Rugby, 2023-06-04)

#1655

We need save history. Should be built where no one is affected.

Maxine Parsons (Horncastle, 2023-06-04)

The gardens should be preserved for future generations to enjoy, especially as green spaces are known to enhance mental health.

Janie McCormick (Hanthorpe, 2023-06-04)

#1663

Barnsdale Gardens is an amazing place to visit and must be preserved.

Steve Walters (Leicester, 2023-06-04)

#1665

I am signing because I love Barnsdale Gardens and want it to keep being the beautiful peaceful place that keeps Geoff Hamilton's memory alive.

Joanna Blackburn (Scunthorpe, 2023-06-04)

#1666

I'm signing because solar farms on green field sites destroy the very environment carbon reduction purports to protect. Solar panels could and should be fitted to every commercial and industrial building already built on brownfield sites and all future similar developments instead of desecrating the open countryside.

Christine Morris (Peterborough, 2023-06-05)

#1668

This garden is of significant horticultural interest and as such everything should be done to protect its future

Maggie Harkness (Worcester Park,, 2023-06-05)

#1672

I love gardens.

Paul Mason (Leicester, 2023-06-06)

#1675

Barnsdale was a life's work for Geoff Hamilton, and should be kept in his memory.

Keith Cotter (Broadway, 2023-06-07)

#1676

I loved watching hing Geoff Hamilton on gardeners World,
And that his son has kept it going .
I am visiting in July while staying in Rutland ,it would be a great loss to
The area it has taken years to mature and far better for the environment than big ugly solar panels .

Maggie Ash (Dorset, 2023-06-07)

#1677

I value Barnsdale Gardens and remember their design and development when I was a youth. The inspiration it provides novice hobby gardeners like me must be far more important to the environment not only for humans, but also for insects and wildlife. It has provided so many with ideas of what they can do in their own gardens, it has been a source of mindfulness and a work of art to uplift the soul. The solar farm could be placed elsewhere where there is no impact upon the gardens.

Lorraine Roberts (Lincoln, 2023-06-07)

#1678

It is important to protect these historic gardens.

Christine Eaton (Poole, 2023-06-07)

#1684

Monika Maliye (London, 2023-06-09)

#1688

Love visiting these beautiful gardens

sharon carradice (St neots, 2023-06-09)

#1690

Solar panels are great in the right place. Make them mandatory for new builds, factory & warehouse roofs. Don’t sacrifice our beautiful countryside & facilities when there are glaringly obvious better options.

Andrew Dakin (Loughborough, 2023-06-09)

#1691

I want Barnsdale gardens to continue to thrive.

Annette Wood (Emsworth, 2023-06-09)

#1696

The legacy of Geoff Hamilton needs to stay alive and inspire future young gardeners

Sarah Birch (King's Lynn, 2023-06-11)

#1697

Whist I support the need for greener energy such as Solar Panel farms the development of such should not jeopardise existing beautiful places or thriving local businesses as I believe would be the case here.

Derek Commander (Market Rasen, 2023-06-11)

#1698

These gardens are a legacy and beautiful. There are other fields to do this development in that does not wipe out a legacy in gardening.

Nicola Seadon (Rugby, 2023-06-11)

#1701

Barnsdale is unique, it would be a travesty if it had to close

Mary Perry (Easton, 2023-06-11)

#1702

It is important for us to preserve the legacy of Barnsdale gardens as well as protect the habitats of wildlife. While renewable energy is certainly worth investing in it must be done so in appropriate spaces

Josh Earl (Spalding, 2023-06-11)

#1708

This is the wrong place for a solar farm. Grow crops, not electricity

Michael Zwicky-Ross (Ulverston, 2023-06-12)

#1709

Barnsdale Garden is an important legacy garden that must be protected

Lynne Davies (Nottingham, 2023-06-12)

#1713

I love Barnsdale gardens

Peter Edge (West Looe, 2023-06-12)

#1717

It would be a crying shame for Barnsdale Gardens to close when it is such pleasure for people to visit and it helps so many people psychologically. The solar farm should be sited elsewhere.

Cheryl Jones (Derbyshire, 2023-06-12)

#1718

The gardens need protecting for pollinators which the panels will not

neil foster (kirkintilloch, 2023-06-12)

#1720

I'm from Central Australia and all for solar, but not here PLEASE. These gardens are irreplacable.

Hugh Lovesy (Lubbenham, 2023-06-13)

#1721

Ivery much admire Nick for continuing his fathers legacy it would be tragic for the gardens to have to close for what will be a
short term solution and will be become redundant when some other scheme is developed

Joan Kinch (Andover, 2023-06-13)

#1723

I'm signing because it's a beautiful place to visit

Doreen Sadler (Loughborough, 2023-06-13)

#1729

I do not want to see this asset to the community lost

Brian Jones (Market Deeping, 2023-06-15)

#1730

There are more suitable areas to locate the oanels

Susan Barraball (Harrow, 2023-06-15)

#1731

I'm signing this petition to preserve a valuable local resource of nature and tranquillity.

Caroline Tong (Gerrards Cross, 2023-06-15)

#1733

Geof Hamilton has always been one of my heroes and it would be so sad to lose the gardens he put so much love and care into and which taught us amateur gardens where to begin

Diana Lamb (Winchester, 2023-06-15)

#1743

The peace and tranquility of Geoff Hamilton's legacy, Barnsdale Gardens, would be ruined by the building of a wind farm on the field immediately next door. Surely there is a better position for this wind farm where it wouldn't be a nuisance and potentially cause the closure of these important gardens?

Linda Minchener (Gloucester, 2023-06-16)

#1745

Geoff Hamilton was a huge inspiration to many people including myself, and it would be tragic to lose this space that he created. We need to look after places such as this, where people can go to escape what is an increasingly horrible world.

Jamie Biggs (Woodbridge, 2023-06-16)

#1747

Enormous threat to an already incredibly fragile wildlife population.

Debra Keeble (Woking, 2023-06-16)

#1748

The late Geoff Hamilton inspired us newlyweds to start gardening and having visited Barnsdale, whilst visiting our daughter in Uppingham, feel it would be awful to see it closed.

Anne Ross (Glasgow, 2023-06-16)

#1750

I’m signing because renewable energy is great but not at the expense of nature !!

Jo Travers (Framlingham, 2023-06-16)

#1754

Wonderful places like Barnsdale need to be protected not destroyed. Solar panels should be on roofs and in urban environments, not ruining our natural environment.

Colin Aylott (WELWYN GARDEN CITY, 2023-06-17)

#1755

Barnsdake us too good to lose

Sandra Makin (Keighley, 2023-06-17)

#1758

These places should be preserved for people and wildlife alike. If lost we never see them replaced.

Janet Dammes (Grantham, 2023-06-18)

#1761

I love Barnsdale and what it offers for nature and people's well being. Land is being opportunistically sold for solar with no local or national plan that balances food and energy sustainability and protecting landscape and nature.

Jennifer Cramb (Richmond, 2023-06-18)

#1763

The proposed development risks the future of these wonderful gardens which provide pleasure and education to the public and a huge environmental benefit.

Jo Sampson (Launceston, 2023-06-18)

#1766

The loss of the gardens would be huge not just economically as a business but also ecologically and environmentally.

Patricia Maguire (Sandbach, 2023-06-18)

#1767

I donot want the great legacy of the gardens destroyed.

Richard Pegler (Eastleigh, 2023-06-18)

#1769

Barnsdale Gardens would be severely affected by this proposal; the gardens are soundly established and are visited by many people as a source of interest, education, relaxation and pleasure. The gardens provide for countless birds and insects too as well as small mammals.

Catherine Parker (Grantham, 2023-06-18)

#1775

An established site like Barnsdale Garden has so much plant and animal life being supported, it would be devastating for the local area if it had to close.

Lisa Evans (Corsham, 2023-06-18)

#1776

I believe this is the wrong site for a solar farm.

Amy Fisher (BEDFORD, 2023-06-18)

#1777

I object to a wind farm so close to Barnsdale Gardens.

Nigel Nutting (Barnetby, 2023-06-18)

#1781

I want to preserve this important garden centre because of its importance place in gardening history and to preserve the legacy of Geoff Hamilton

Steve ILES (Shrewsbury, 2023-06-18)

#1783

This beautiful garden is a wonderful space for people & wildlife

Margaret Nottage (Sandown, 2023-06-18)

#1784

I am signing this petition as there will be a catastrophic effect on the wonderful Barnsdale Gardens which is a major attraction in the area and provides local employment and income. There a plenty of alternative sights where solar panels should be located on very low grade agricultural land or industrial warehouse roofs.

Angela Louch (Buntingford, 2023-06-18)

#1785

I believe this is an important place for wildlife and visitors which will be lost unnecessarily when there are other more suitable locations for solar farms.

Andrew Hallworth (Manchester, 2023-06-18)

#1786

I think there are better places to site solar panels, car parks, houses etc than fields. It seems such a pity to damage countryside while trying to save the planet. I’ve never been to Barnsdale but watched it evolve on Gardeners World and I’m sure having it is so important to many people. Please think again and get companies to help make better decisions of where to site solar farms.

Pam Wood (Crediton, 2023-06-18)

#1788

I agree that the siting of a solar farm next to Barnsdale Gardens is ill conceived. Years of love and hard work have resulted in a place of beauty, peace and tranquility, for local residents and visitors to enjoy.

Denise Spearman (Sleaford, 2023-06-19)

#1789

My Dad loved Geoff & as keem gardeners ourselves, my partner and I have just begun planning a visit. Can't quite believe what I am reading.

C A Castledine (Langley Mill, 2023-06-19)

#1790

Solar panels take up so much room for so little return. Fine in a sunny country but not in a damp and cloudy country. Waste of time and money. They also don't work if it is too hot.

Chris Gaskell (Preston, 2023-06-19)

#1791

I treasure these gardens for the tranquility and visit to relax and reset my inner peace.

Alexandra White (Louth, 2023-06-19)

#1792

We are locally fighting a huge solar farm project which is hugely underfunded and takes no account of local preferences. It is supported by the local PC whose chairman just happens to be the father of the farmer selling the land.
Geoff Hamilton was a hero of mine and a great inspiration - I have been following his ‘advice’ for more than 30 years!

Mike Smurthwaite (Oundle, 2023-06-19)

#1795

Barnsdale Gardens is the life's work of Geoff Hamilton's family. A magnificent legacy of the groundbreaking work in organic gardening Geoff Hamilton championed. This magnificent national jewel must nig be lost.

Susan Mette (Norfolk, 2023-06-19)

#1796

The gardens are beautiful and a tribute to Geoff.

Suzanne Lovelock (Bedford, 2023-06-19)

#1797

I love coming to the lovely Barnsdale Gardens, which have improved year by year and have taken time to reach the present state.

Marilyn Senior (Billingborough, Sleaford., 2023-06-19)

#1798

I don’t agree with farm land being used for solar farms and also do not wish to see Barnsdale Gardens forced to close.

Christopher Senior (Billingborough, Sleaford, 2023-06-19)

#1800

Barnstable Gardens are a very special place.
