Apart from the scenic forest drive for visitors/tourists and the travel times involved, I also come from the point of view as the chairperson of the 'Mountain Bowers' body corporate. If the road to O'Reillys is in some way damaged or obstructed our owners and their paying guest don't have an alternative route off the mountain as they use to have.Michael Gordon (BROOKFIELD, 2024-02-18)

Duck Creek Road is one of the most treasured sections of Lamington NP for long-time visitors and should be maintained for both the safety and enjoyment of all.Andrew Stafford (The Gap, 2024-02-19)

I'm signing because I have fond memories of going up this road 20+ years ago and believe it would be enjoyable to do it again on a regular basis as a local.Tim Zampech (Gold Coast, 2024-02-19)

As a tourist, I have used this road previously, and really enjoyed the area, and a different way to travel to/from O'Reilly's. I understand that for locals, and their work, this road is very important (considering the terrain). Also, the road has significant historical importance. Please repair the damaged section.Wendy Mathews (SOUTH NANANGO, 2024-02-19)

Ease of access to Green Mountain section of Lamington NP. Alternative route off the mountain in times of bushfire or flood. Makes a tourist circuit and allows access for local employment purposes.Maree Houston (Lamington, 2024-02-19)

I have driven it before, see no reason for it to be closed to the public!MIKE LOCKHART (TOWOOMBA, 2024-02-19)

O'Reilly's and the Lamington National Park is a stunning and unique piece of Australia. Visitors should be able to explore the Duck River environs, and the locals should be able to use this route to get to O'Reilly's. Duck Creek Rd is a vital back-up to the main access in the event of bad weather or damage to the road.Peter Cornelius (Middle Cove, 2024-02-19)

Duck Creek Road is a wonderful scenic road to spend a day on, driving along, picnicking at a scenic point and as part of a great round trip way to visit the National park. It’s also important for there to be more than one way to the National park.Gavin Brady (Brisbane, 2024-02-19)

It would be greatly appreciated if Duck Creek Road could be reopened as its closure negatively impacts on the local community. The hiking/tourist community, who provide a lot of benefit economically and recreationally would benefit from the road being reopened.Sean O Donoghue (Jimboomba, 2024-02-20)

Our family has a strong connection with the history of O'Reilly's going back to early settlement. Our visitors to the farm want to be able to visit O'Reilly's but no longer do so because of the extended travel distance. The opportunity for us to sell our farm products to O'Reilly's has been taken away by the closure of the road, as has the chance for our children to obtain work locally at O'Reilly's as generations of local kids have done before them.We believe it also poses a safety risk in the event of a natural disaster, of which we seem to have an increasing number.

I’m signing this petition as I’ve grown up exploring the beautiful country with 4 generations, and slowly but surely more and more is getting locked away from most of us Australian citizens which is not right and is sad for the future generations.Ryan Wadey (Moreton Bay, 2024-02-20)

I believe there needs to be a balance between humans and nature. We need to have ways to accommodate people within the natural environment rather than isolating huge tracts of land and keeping people out.frank thomson (Brisbane, 2024-02-20)
