Save Texas Drive Park!

My family and I use Texas Park almost daily and destruction of 25% of its land area is unacceptable.

My house butts up to the park and home values and green space will decrease. You have enough room at the current township hall to build there or 6th street.

There is far too much building going on in Texas Township. Leave the green spaces green!

I do not want to lose the green space/ playground.

I oppose this on the basis of: yet again, the township did not provide widespread information about this and I have an issue with using beautiful green space used by many as another building. I have only resided in Texas Twp 6 years. In that time, my taxes have increased by nearly a third. It has come to the point, that I need to begin to look for a home in an area with an ethical Township board and much more reasonable taxes.

Parks should never be converted to non-park use. I urge the Township Board to find efficiencies in their operations and reduce their need for space. Businesses globally are allocating less and less square footage to administrative employee space in favor of work-from-home and hoteling options. It is fiscally irresponsible to expand the township hall, especially at the expense of park space.

The township hall should remain located in the center of the township, visible to the residents and accessible. The park is important for its use by our youngest citizens, a place to gather and play safely, easily accessible not located miles away as the 6th street park is that requires a car to get to. I have personally witnessed many bike or walk to the Texas Park to use the facilities—ball field, playground, walking trails. Much of this would be lost to a township hall and parking lot.

The township has plans to screw the average taxpayer over for things that are not needed.

Use the corn field across the street for a municipal center
Think about 20 years from now when more space will be needed

Having a public building at the park will draw traffic and crowds to a park area where teams, families, and kids play and relax.

I would like the township to purchase land elsewhere to build the new township hall, even if it means a small increase in taxes, rather than take land from Texas Drive Park.

The existing township office has so, so much square feet available outside the building to extend the offices and a large meeting/conference/auditorium room.

We love Texas Drive Park! If the township really needs a fancy new office share with residents the benefits and impact. Other land can be used for township office building.

I’m opposed to spending this money on a unnecessary new town hall, especially on park land. We do not need a larger town hall and the money should be used as a credit on future property tax bills which spiked this year. I’m for limited government that benefits the whole community not spending money on a building that benefits a few who work there. Our park space is very important considering the bad zoning laws which are allowing cheap subdivisions to pop up and destroy the quaint feel of Texas corners.
