I hold a Natiion Diploma in Policing. A graduate who has been denied an opportunity to fulfill my dream. I am dissatisfied with SAPS or should i say "department of security and safety" for not considering graduates when they advertise post. We are being neglected not to mention SAPS. it always recruiting but we as graduates never been given a preference. Why we are encouraged to study if we will not be considered with our qualifications. It is sad iindeed that our Government whom we put in power is the one that neglecting us. The criminal just system as a whole has turned a blind eye in this!!

Due to the high rate of crime in South Africa, most cases are not being attended to professionally, leading criminals to get away with the crimes they commit due to a lack of knowledge on how to investigate crimes professionally. This is due to the educational levels of police officers, which is only matric.

It is imperative that the South African government recognizes the urgent need to provide employment opportunities for graduates in the fields of forensic studies and criminology, criminal justice system, diploma in Policing, correctional services diploma, law and traffic management diploma and other law enforcement degrees, particularly in government agencies such as the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Border Management Agency (BMA), and the Public Protector's Office. As responsible stewards of taxpayer money, the government must allocate resources to enable these departments to create jobs and employ these qualified professionals. The current high crime rate is a major concern for citizens, and the employment of these graduates could significantly aid in addressing this issue.

I'm signing this petition because I fully agree with what it stands for. I'm one of those graduates who holds an Honours degree in Criminology, I did my internship with SAPS-Crime Intelligence and I'm still counted among those who are unemployed. I'm personally pleading with the South African Policing Services to consider reducing the number of unemployed graduates. I'm 100% confident that the knowledge we gained through our different fields of study(Criminology, Forensic investigation, Law, Criminal Justice, etc) can help in combating crime in our Country.
God bless our Leaders 🙏🏽

Shaun Mathebula (Phalaborwa, 2024-04-23)

#599

I am of this view, I know what I saw here is the truth our government more especially the mentioned derpatments doesn't care about enforcing the law, prevention and combat of crime, maintaining of public order and protecting the people of the republic, what they care about is to get their relatives, family or friends to work while there are graduates who can professional fulfill their positions in those departments instead of taking people with grade 12 who lately be undermined by the public and be called grade 12s because they are unprofessional and they know nothing about the law, there are various reports of them proving that they know nothing their job while they are in uniform, this proves that the education is not valued about management of law enforcement more especially SAPS they would open opportunities for graduates from other courses but when it come to people who have relevant qualifications they make show that they do not take them. The President himself he will go to those SAPS Academy what he will ask is where are the White people that is what he cares about, what about he ask how many graduates of the relevant field are there. This need more attention than we think. By employing graduates from Policing, Criminology, Traffic and fouth those derpatment can gain dignity and level of crime can decrease but where in South Africa we are dealing with the management who does care about graduates or even care about education because they are playing unnecessary politics and mindless
