My partner and her cousin take the children to the cafe and love it, it’s a place they can relax and talk about life and family. The time they spend together means a lot to my partner and it would be a real shame to stop that because of a technicality in my humble opinion.Aaron Robinson (Hastings , 2024-04-07)

I feel really strongly about loosing an amazing cafe that is a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy the wonderful countryside around us. We usually make this our midway point after walking up from Hastings and across to Pett Level, Winchelsea or Rye.Nadia Winborn (Hastings , 2024-04-07)

I'm signing because the Grumpy Cook raises funds to feed Hastings. I cannot think that the change to a non profit can be seen as a negative.Lisa denyer (Battle, 2024-04-08)

I believe that this is an essential part of what is needed in the country park and with the ethics of how the building was made surely the café that is in place should mirror these and has a better support for the community that it is situated.Andrea Spencer (Hastings , 2024-04-08)

Too many community orientated facilities are closing in this area. We need to preserve our quality of life that services such as this provide. Its not always about the bottom line!Philip Wilson (Hastings, 2024-04-08)

It's a wonderful community asset with good food, great staff and is needed badly, homelessness, loneliness and social isolation are one of the scourges of our times, don't close the cure down but promote it.Tim Woodman (Hastings, 2024-04-09)

The Grumpy Cook at the Bale House was an amazing community cafe. Reasonably priced, dog and disabled friendly. A place to meet and make friends. I really can't believe that Barry and Co are no longer there! They've done so much for the area post covid, and non profit making to boot. PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!!!!!Patricia Sleet (Hastings, 2024-04-11)

The Bale House run by the Grumpy Cook has been such an asset to our local area .. not only do they serve delicious food and drinks but they actively do good local charity work helping to end food poverty. This is shock a shock that they have been forced to close in fairlight and it’s such a sad loss to the local community - and tourists .. it encouraged people to get out and get healthy and enjoy the local landscape. Bring them back now - they are so very missed! One of the best cafes in Hastings - with wonderful ethics .. I can’t believe they cannot stayZoe Edwards (Hastings , 2024-04-14)
