I live locally and love this event. I would be very upset to see it stopped. The community love this Easter festival.

Meg Klavins (Newstead, 2023-04-11)

#405

Instead of the parade finding an alternative route, Vicroads and the B doubles can find an alternate route and should respect the traditions that the community cherish.
Also why is Maldon being used as a truck bypass?

Erynn Trewartha Lewicki (Bendigo, 2023-04-11)

#408

This historic parade must be allowed to continue, I’ve attended many times and would like to in the future.

Phil Kenway (Hastings, 2023-04-11)

#409

The history of events in Maldon and other small towns MUST be protected celebrations down the MAIN streets. Its history and communitys coming together to celebrate.
If Bendigo, Melbourne all other towns and city can close roads for Easter than so can Maldon for a few hours.
Give PLENTY notice to trucks extra road closure in advance.
Dusgusting attitudes of these government beauricauts with their unrealistic ideas.
164 years Maldon has celebrated Easter Parade down the main street.
Do Not Change it.

Janine Culgan (Harcourt, 2023-04-11)

#410

I’m one of the people who ran the parade for over 15 years seeing this stop blows my mind. We always had the road closed and never any problems.

Simone Kinross (Warrnambool, 2023-04-11)

#411

The Maldon Easter Parade is an institution. We enjoy sitting outside of the Kangaroo Hotel every year. A 2 hour closure once a year surely will not cause a major disruption. Divert the traffic through Newstead.

Deanne Bannatyne (Sedgwick, 2023-04-11)

#412

The Easter parade has been an integral part of the Easter parade for well over a hundred years.I had the pleasure of being part of the parade for most of my young life.

Janine Downie (Melbourne, 2023-04-11)

#415

B double trucks should not be using High St Maldon as a route at anytime.

Judy Ruiz (Bendigo, 2023-04-11)

#417

This year was our first time, we were very impressed with the easter parade, that is the reason we chose maldon to celebrate Easter. The community showcase of maldon history, talent and fun, was great. Please don't break the tradition. History is hard to keep in this day and age

Catherine Hewitson (Keysborough, 2023-04-11)

#426

It’s my family’s tradition to attend the Maldon Easter parade. Please do not change the route.

Julie Hafford (Kangaroo Flat, 2023-04-12)

#427

I have participated in the Maldon Easter Monday parade for many years with the Central Victorian lion team and it is a wonderful event, highlight of my Easter. Please keep it going!

Narelle Croft (Bendigo, 2023-04-12)

#428

I agree that the historic parade should continue and any trucks should be detoured around the town.

Denny French (Bonnie Doon, 2023-04-12)

#429

The Easter Parade is as much a part or our Notable Towns History, as is the Heritage Classified and Regulated Buildings that are a part of Australian History; being preserved for future generations.
Two hours, annually; in the scheme of our on-going history is nothing.
Surely B-double trucks could be inconvenienced for a short time on a Sunday - or will they be, wonder what the number would be at that time of day.
Vic Roads should concentrate on improving roads around the area, so that B-double and us general public can travel safely. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Leonie Briggs (Maldon, 2023-04-12)

#434

I’m signing because the Easter Parade is a long standing local tradition that is held on a public holiday when there should be no commercial vehicles moving through the Maldon CBD. It is all over in a morning, so through traffic can go around or plan there time to suit the road closures.

Nancy Whittaker (Maldon, 2023-04-12)

#435

This is an important event for the town and will have a detrimental effect on the local community and economy.

Heather Brimblecombe (Yinnar, 2023-04-12)

#437

B doubles shouldn't be in small country town

Scott Tomlinson (Geelong, 2023-04-12)

#438

I believe vic roads and the state government should not have to change the event in any way as they have a year in advance to notify anybody that it may inconvenience for 3 hours a year... yes 3 hours at the most a year... and on Easter monday when most traffic is stopping to watch the parade not trying to drive through.

Stewart Clissold (Corio, 2023-04-13)

#440

Its important

Alex Stol (Melbourne, 2023-04-13)

#446

The parade is a long standing tradition and attracts thousands of visitors to the town. The closure is only for a very short period once a year.

Carole Day (Maldon, 2023-04-13)

#447

It’s an important community event which should take priority over a truck route. VicRoads would close it for maintenance, it can be closed for this event.

Katie Grevis-James (Metcalfe, 2023-04-13)

#448

I live in Maldon and believe that the Parade is a great community event that holds great traditional significance for the town, community and future generations.

Paul Adams (Maldon, 2023-04-13)

#452

Because I think B-Doubles should not be going though this historic town at all.

Win Jodell (Castlemaine, 2023-04-15)

#453

I’m signing because I’m a resident it’s a good thing for the community.

Janet Annand (Essendon, 2023-04-16)

#454

The government has lost the plot

Hodgetts Mark (Rowville, 2023-04-16)

#457

Vicroads is being selfish, disrespecting the local town's history and amenity. They should find an alternative route not only for the day but preferably long term.

Diane Williams (Baringhup, 2023-04-19)

#458

I love Maldon and the Easter is an annual treat.

Lucienne Galea (Melbourne, 2023-04-20)

#459

Maldon has managed to hold this parade for so many years without the road closure causing a problem. Drivers are aware of the brief closure and arrange their itinerary accordingly.

Lois Larkman (Maldon, 2023-04-20)

#460

Maldon is a Heritage Town. The historic festival should be preserved.

Carolyn Slingo (Bendigo, 2023-04-20)

#463

This is crazy being a Public Holiday.Bureaucracy gone mad

Clive Cooke (Tara, 2023-04-20)

#464

I live in Maldon, and I want to see the Easter Parade continue in it's current format.

Peter Kinlyside (Maldon, 2023-04-20)

#465

This is a 140+ year tradition. The road is closed for about 1 hour. It's a fantastic event for the local community. Don't do it!

Graham Pratt (Baringhup, 2023-04-20)

#466

The parade is very important to the town and community. Let it continue and manage the trucks around it for 2 hours on a public holiday each year

Grant Schuster (Maldon, 2023-04-20)

#467

The parade requires heritage protection. I’d also suggest taking this to the appropriate minister.

Simon Simon (Maldon, 2023-04-20)

#469

An important part of Australia's history shouldn't be disrupted just so trucks can get through those few hours. They should take an alternative rout. Maldon isn't a suitable truck rout anyway.

Rebekah Hamilton (Walmer, 2023-04-20)

#471

Would like to support a 147 yo Easter parade. The road only needs to be shut for a few hrs. I think trucks can cope with that on a public holiday.

Kirrily Curtain (Maldon, 2023-04-20)

#472

I live in Maldon and I'm proud of our parade in this historic town.

Norman Keegel (Maldon, Vic, 2023-04-20)

#473

Keep Maldon's Easter Parade alive. The parade needs this street to be closed for 2 hours so that people can enjoy it safely as they have been for the last 147 years. The traffic can be easily re-routed around this wonderful procession must more easily than the parade can be changed. JUST DO IT !!

Michael Lambert (Croydon North, 2023-04-20)

#476

This is a site of value to the people. B doubles do not belong and will impact in a negative way. I want my grandchildren and on to continue to march this st as i did when i was a child. Community and culture is the most important things.

Amber Stubbings (Flinders View, 2023-04-20)

#478

The parade brings happiness to so many people and is a tradition

Jane Lowe (Bendigo, 2023-04-20)

#479

I agree

Yvonne Welch (MCKENZIE HILL, 2023-04-20)

#480

Because it’s a traditional part off Maldons Easter

Kath Trethowan (Spring Gully, 2023-04-21)

#483

The Maldon Fair is a highlight of the town. We have travelled from Perth and participated in the events. Don't lose this event too many people enjoy all the festivities and keeps the town alive.

Valerie Read (Perth wa, 2023-04-21)

#485

The Maldon Easter Parade has been running for over 145 years and is considered a community event. Running B double trucks through the center of Maldon will destroy the character the town is known for.

Michael Van Der Arend (Melbourne, 2023-04-21)

#486

I believe some traditions need to, not only be preserved, but supported and promoted. The Maldon Easter Parade is a very valuable community and historical tradition.

Jill Harrison-Rogers (Albert Park, 2023-04-21)

#488

A small historic town like Maldon shouldn't have huge trucks rumbling through it anyway and this parade has been part of the history

Amanda Witt (Frankston, 2023-04-21)

#489

It seems ridiculous to boot a 150 year old tradition that brings much needed tourism to the area.

Hambidge Lavina (Mernda, 2023-04-21)

#490

This parade just as important for those taking part as it is for those watching. It brings the small town to life and the businesses a much needed financial boost. Rain, hail or shine, participants and spectators partake and watch his historic parade.

Kristina Forbes (Castlemaine, 2023-04-21)

#491

The famous Maldon Easter Parade and Fair is the longest and oldest running Easter Fair in Australia, starting in 1878. It holds historical significance and remains a strong connecting element to the fabric of the Maldon township.

Lauren Adele Stevens (Maldon, 2023-04-21)

#492

The Easter procession is a huge part of Easter in Maldon. It seems very unreasonable the road cannot be closed for a short period of time once a year for this event to allow the procession on its traditional route.

Alison Brown (Barooga, 2023-04-21)

#493

I strongly believe that the parade needs to stay on the same route it has been on for 146 years and that b double trucks should definitely not be allowed to use high street as it is often very busy and gets a bit narrow and congested when there are cars parked on both sides.

Shaun Burchell (Bendigo, 2023-04-21)

#495

I was part of the Easter festival and it was awesome and we’re from Melbourne we were thrilled to go somewhere fun as a family

Kathryn Toomey (St Kilda East, 2023-04-22)

#496

Highlight of the year for maldon, and has been for over 140 years

Martin Sheales (Templestowe, 2023-04-22)

#498

We have spent a few Easters in Maldon with our kids. They love the parade. I think it would be a great shame if the town was to lose their parade.

Narelle McQueen (Warrnambool, 2023-04-23)

#499

I disagree with the proposal and believe the Maldon Easter Parade which dates back many years that l used to attend every year with my Family is a wonderful community gathering steeped in rural country charm.
I and that of my families have many beautiful memories of our time visiting my Grandparents who lived behind the Blacksmiths. The town and those around it come together which generate much needed work and dollars for the local community

Sharon Hancock (Bundaberg, 2023-04-23)

#501

It should be recognized by the government and VicRoads that it's a long standing tradition.

Byron Johnson-Letts (Bendigo, 2023-04-26)

#502

I grew up in Maldon, went to every easter fair as a child...Now I go back every Easter and take my grand children..love it.

Beverley Compagnoni (Dunolly, 2023-04-26)

#504

My family has lived in and around Maldon since 1855 and has taken part inn- and vowed many parades over the years. The parade is a highlight in the Maldon calendar - and is a vital part of the towns fabric and history. It simply must continue.

Mike Woods (Melbourne, 2023-04-28)

#505

The Easter Parade predates the truck route. It's not on a highway, and never intended for a truck route. Trucks use Boundary Rd when the road's shut anyway.

Michele Waddington (Maldon, 2023-04-28)

#509

The Maldon Easter Parade should be allowed to continue in it's current form.

Lisa Miller (MARYBOROUGH, 2023-04-30)

#510

I have a long time connection to Maldon I was born in Maldon. Easter celebrations and parade were part of my life for many years. This is such an important part of Maldon history it would be tragic to see it come to an end.

Anne Hines (Leongatha, 2023-05-01)

#511

I'm signing because of the high-handed attitude of Vic Roads which is totally out of touch with small communities like Maldon.

Ian McKelvie (Maldon, 2023-05-01)

#513

This is a piece of Victorian history that should not be lost. It is also an important community asset that has great intangible value as well as great financial value. To lose this due to an slowing down a handful of cars for a couple of hours each year would be tragic.

Adam Ring (South Yarra, 2023-05-01)

#514

This is very important to my family.

Nicholas Wilton (South Yarra, 2023-05-02)

#517

I was born in Maldon my Grandma and Grandpa lived and died in Maldon I remember every Easter going to the parade would be a shame to get rid of such a tradition

Trish Splatt (Gold Coast, 2023-05-02)

#519

Beautiful Maldon needs this🙏

Mavis Poulton (Bilinga, 2023-05-03)

#521

My great grandmother is from Maldon, this feels personal

Thomas Ring (South Yarra, 2023-05-03)

#524

I have been to quite a few Easter parades over the years and I don’t think that trucks should drive through this beautiful towns main precinct at any time, there are other ways to get around Maldon.

Erica Duncan (Raywood, 2023-05-23)

#525

I have gone to this street festival since I was a child and so do so many others Vic roads can not stop something like this for their own benifit many family's spend their Easters in molden for this would be devastating to see it stop

Jessica Mc Donald (Vic, 2023-07-02)

#526

I love visiting maldon throughout the year especially at Easter and Xmas

Tracy James (Epping, 2023-09-11)

#527

This is important for this historic town. Noone wants their heritage ripped away for the sake of trucks that have been able to route elsewhere. Vicroads need to leave this town, its traditions and its serenity alone! We have seen the effects of these decisions in other towns and no good has ever come from prioritising truck routes over town livelihoods. Leave Maldon be!

Meg Piccoli (Bendigo, 2023-10-15)

#530

Because Maldon is a beautiful little country town and the locals really appreciate where they live .

Kim Claxton (Gold Coast, 2024-02-16)

#531

Community is more important than traffic.

Joslin Moore (Malmsbury, 2024-02-20)

#533

i am signing this because such an historical event should be a priority. It preservation is essential to the history of the town and local area
