We were promised our present health care. A secret deal made several years ago with the previous mayor was deplorable. Balancing the budget on the backs of retirees, is shameful.Cheryl Rosen (Bayside, 2022-03-13)

I’m signing the petition because I do not feel the city should change our Medicare coverage/senior care. We all gave our all thinking we would be taken care of in our golden years, but now that we are on a fixed income with not increase insight the city wants to offer us an inferior Medicare Plan unless we, the retirees, PAY UP! This is so unfair!!!Rosemary McKnight (Bronx, 2022-03-13)

Mayor Adams was once one of us. Deep in his heart, he knows that the 250K retirees, plus those who will retire in the future, have been royally screwed by NYC. Mayor Adams has the perfect opportunity to right an obvious wrong.Irving Rosenstein (Great Neck, NzY, 2022-03-13)

The judge made the right decision and you should too Just as you initially said before you were elected, This is a bait and switch idea being pushed on people who were trusting and worked for the city wholeheartedly. Now you do the right thing!Pauline Grillos (Staten Island, 2022-03-13)

I’m signing because this is unfair to NYC retirees, many of whom are elderly and have no idea what is being done to them. Prior authorizations in this plan will cause delays in treatment which can result in death. NYC retirees deserve better.Toni Monier (Bellerose Manor, 2022-03-13)

Do not pull the rug out from under our feet. It will only expose you, Mayor Eric Adams, to further health disparities that do exist between black and brown communities and the disparities of single elderly women of all stripes and colors.Lori Maslow (Brooklyn, 2022-03-13)

I really believe the city of NY has thrown its senior citizens under the bus with this new and obvious inferior health care coverage - Medicare Advantage. The city has broken its promise and taking away healthcare when we need it most. Very hurtful, very outrageous!William Hooker (NY, 2022-03-13)

I am signing because I worked for CUNY for 17 years and DCP for 14.5 years. I was promised health care. My husband sees certain doctors and if we have to change health care, some of his procedures will not be covered. I do not want to have to have most procedures be pre-oked before having them. The city is going back on its promise to its retirees.Michele Basco (Long Island City, 2022-03-13)

I am signing because most of my doctors here will not accept MAP. Only only 2 out of 12 will. The maneuver by the city to create that the policy enforcement was declared illegal.. let us keep our insurance so that we have Insurance.Donna Dowd (Durham, 2022-03-13)

I am signing because neither I nor my EARNED medical benefits are “throw away cards” due to the withering mismanagement of the city’s finances under the administration of the former and worst mayor of the City of New York.PS.- A message to all those sell-outs who thought that retirees were going to be submissive victims to be easily thrown “under the bus” - GUESS AGAIN.

I truly would like to maintain myOriginal Medicare/Emblem Health GHI senior care. I just turned 65 on February 2022 and was so disappointed the city was changing us to Medicare Advantage. I also believe it is unjust to do this to the elderly; especially those that have no clue this change was being made. Please let us maintain the benefits we have now. Thanks
Patricia Lettiere (Matawan, New Jersey, 2022-03-13)

The City has a legal and moral obligation to preserve the benefits owed to its retirees. The City must honor their commitment(s) to those who nobility served the people of New York. To do otherwise, is an act of betrayal. Mr. Mayor, do the right thing!Vincent Parolisi (Henderson, NV, 2022-03-13)

Both my PCP and my dermatologist who has treated me for 30 years are not participating in MAPP. Since being Covid 2 years ago, I should not have to worry about my health services when approaching age 75. Mayor Adams, allow us some peace after our long service to the city.Glory Ann Kerstein (NEW YORK, 2022-03-13)

This push to place NYC Medicare retirees in a Disadvantage plan automatically (requiring us to OPT OUT was wrong and nefarious from the get-go. Please help us maintain our Traditional Medicare with the GHI SENIOR CARE AS secondary insurance, as is. It has served us well and this is what we were promised.Engel Karen (Fernandina Beach, Florida, 2022-03-13)

I think the city should stand behind the retiree medical coverage we have always received. Also if you want to talk to retirees contact them not negotiate with the MLC which negotiated this plan to get raises for active members not retirees.James P Walsh (Bradenton, 2022-03-13)

I want to keep the health insurance that was promised to me by NYC upon completion of my 25 years of service.Thomas Simone (Brooklyn, 2022-03-13)

I believe I have the right to the original retiree health plan I have worked for during my almost 30 years as a proud NYC civil servant with 4 mayoral agencies and am highly concerned about the MAPP. I experienced managed care plans and health insurance needs with my seriously ill mother and then a brother in law who both were told they should go to Medicare to get sufficient health care during their illnesses and not be rejected by services and/or facilities (and it bore out as true). I am concerned that I cannot afford to stay on Medicare for myself and my spouse.Jeanine Prud’homme (East Elmhurst NY, 2022-03-13)

This is one of the most important issues for me. I need the plan I had. I need to be able to continue the plan I had without the additional payment. At this time of my life, it would be one of the worst things that could happen to me.Emilie epstein (Jericho, 2022-03-13)

We were promised certain benefits after our retirement. These benefits were an incentive to continue my City employment. My position and responsibilities would have earned me more money in the private sector. The pension and promised health insurance benefits were the reasons I remained a City employee.Sheila Raskob (NY, 2022-03-13)

I am signing because I feel the city is breaking it's contract. The city was built by the former and current employees. We earned less than we should have for the promise of a pension and great medical benefits in our golden years. I feel that it is imperative that the city upholds its end of the bargain.Lisa Anderson (Staten Island, 2022-03-13)

The City has pulled a Bait and Switch against its Union retirees…..promising one thing to us when we were young and just beginning and now when we are retired and most vulnerable they are attempting to make money on the backs of the oldest and most vulnerable retirees.
