I live in Cromer with my family and it’s very dangerous crossing Fisher Rd North anywhere and I’m worried how many more people need to be injured before changes are done to make it safer.Noelle Sadinsky (Cromer, 2020-06-30)

Our kids have schools at cromer high and cromer public. I can not let my kids walk to school for the last 10 years as there is no crossings and it is so dangerous and not worth the risk. 1 of my children has asd. He would be allowed to walk if there were crossings. This stops him from being more independent than he could be. There is a skate park with many children that cross everyday. Without a crossing there will be more accidents.Nicole Heffernan (Sydney, 2020-06-30)

I travel along that section of road a couple of time a day dropping my kids to either dance or soccer. I have seen so many near misses, something needs to be done before a child is killed. this particular area has changed so much over the past 5 years the roads and safety measure for school children and the general public as well as general traffic flow has not kept up with these developments. The time is NOW! Getting out of south creek road (turning right from petrol station) is horrendous in the afternoons, with busses, trucks it needs to be addressed.sarah Hendry (Cromer, 2020-06-30)

Our Cromer public school and it’s near by facilities around the school vicinity are all high risk areas with near misses at the school on the poorly marked crossings and the skate park and st Mathews farm areas to James Morgan Cromer high and the soccer fields. Our children do no have the councils support despite the community, schools and clubs begging for a urgent action.Kristy Yeadon (Cromer, 2020-06-30)

I use the intersection of Fisher Rd and South Creek Road every day between 3.30pm and 4pm and it is impossible to make a right turn safely into that intersection due to heavy traffic. My daughter crosses at that pedestrian island at the service station at 3.45-4pm 4 weekdays and it is unsafe! Please put in a roundabout with pedestrian crossing or traffic lights 🚦 To make the intersection safe for all road users.Kylie Govers (Collaroy, 2020-06-30)

I frequent this area and it is unsafe. I nearly had a car accident driving out of St Matthews farm carpark. Can not see at all and the cars drive way too fast. A friend of mine also saved a little girl last week from getting hit by a car when she ran out of the skate park. Traffic lights are also another option.Yanda Morison (Collaroy plateau, 2020-06-30)

I use to love up the road in wheeler heights. I have tried crossing that road numerous times to get to the shops or walking to school. I now have a baby boy and I wouldn’t let him go anywhere near that road. So many motorists drive so fast past the shops making the road super dangerous!Fiona Birtwistle (Sydney, 2020-06-30)

I am playing and coaching soccer at St Matthews Farm four to five days a week and have witnessed numerous near misses between pedestrians and cars when people try to cross this road. As well as a crossing --- which should be a mandatory addition given the amount of kids using the oval and the skate park --- the street parking sign at the northern end of St Matthews Farm carpark needs to be moved further south along South Creek Rd to allow better vision for cars coming out of that carpark.Darren McDermott (Cromer, 2020-06-30)

As a long time resident of Wheeler Heights, I travel the local roads on a daily basis. I have witnessed many near misses between vechile and pedestrians. With the development of high density residential complexes, commercial estates and the increased visitors to council facility’s like parks and skate parks, the council needs to take responsibility to ensure the community is safe and provide the infrastructure, including safety devices. Council needs to stop putting us at risk. We demand a pedestrian crossing near the shops and the local facility on south creek road.Regards
Cherie Woodley

I live in Cromer and there is not enough pedestrian crossings in the area at all (or footpaths). My children will grow up here and the area needs to be safer for them.Amie Benge (Cromer, 2020-07-03)
#567
This section of road is extremely dangerous from the service station around to the roundabout. It has too many exit and entry points with no room for error. Several side streets, business, business centres, parks, cars parked on both sides of the road, truck turning/parking, children crossing, walker crossing, bikers crossing. No designated crossing or lights at any point. I have witnessed too many near misses and at no point do cars slow down! Petitions have been ignored. I do hope it doesn't take an actual death to change this situation.Linda Robertson (Cromer, 2020-07-03)
#569
I agree that this stretch of road needs to be improved for pedestrian safety. In general I have observed significant disregard for others’ safety around many streets in Cromer as they are rarely monitored by police mobile patrols, e.g Willandra Rd.Lily Clements (Cromer, 2020-07-03)

This area is dangerous and our kids play there all the time!!Wendy Boyd (Collaroy, 2020-07-03)

I am signing this because there are lives at risk! I drive that road every day and am so nervous that a child is going to either run out, or someone is going to get out of their car right in front of me, similar to the incident the other day. I am surprised it hasn't happened until now. The road is so narrow, particularly when you have cars parked on both sides of the road and huge trucks utilising it regularly.I have watched that road become busier and busier over the years. I lived in Penrith Ave growing up, and crossing south creek road even 30 years ago was dangerous. It was busy enough back then! Now we have the Skate park, a childcare centre, a business park amongst other things that have all majorly increased traffic flow and pedestrian activity in that area. It has been an accident waiting to happen. I have just heard too that the lady who was hit has sadly since passed away. This is one life too many. Please PLEASE help us keep our children and community safe.

As a resident in an adjoining street. I have been saying this would happen for years and sadly it has. So many people have flagged this over the years and no one at council listened. The stupid decision to allow a chemist, news agency and child care Centre on the corner of Penrith was outrageous and the acts of stupidity I see on a daily basis from drivers here is frightening. I think the council should be sued for negligence by any party who is injured or killed.Steve Buchanan (Sydney, 2020-07-05)
#582
Residents have needed this for many years. St Matt’s is extremely busy in soccer and football seasons, with parents needing to park somewhere to deliver their kids to the games. Kids often have to cross at dangerous points, it surprises me that there haven’t been more accidents.Loren Harris (Cromer Heights, 2020-07-10)
#583
I totally agree with the need for at least one crossing in this area. In addition to the issues raised in the petition, the roads in this area also lead to the Narrabeen Lake trail with many children and families riding through the area on bikes or on foot. I cannot let my children walk or cycle to any of the sporting facilities in the area by themselves because it's just too dangerous for them to cross the roads.Jacqueline Braams (Cromer, 2020-07-10)
