I’m signing because my partner and I have been here for 3 years studying and working to be able to migrant to this country Permanently. We have spend our life savings on education and visas. We are 6 months away from lodging our permanent residency visa. Our whole lives our here. We have a house with everything we own. I have already lost my job, and my partner has luckily still got work but we do not know for how long.
Then what will happen ? How can we live with no income and no support.
We cannot fly back to our home countries as our parents are vulnerable adults, we are unable to self isolate back home with our parents. Australia is our home, we have paid taxes here along with everyone else. We should receive some sort of help in these times.

Been living and contributing to Aus for the past 4 years. I’m on a Temp Skills Shortage visa (sponsored through work) and have been stood down because workplace has had to close during COVID19. I will go back to my job when this is over. Being stood down I don’t get paid. Because of my Visa restrictions I can’t get another job. And because I’m not Australian I can’t access government support. So essentially have 0 income for the foreseeable future.
How do I live now?

We are working hard here. Everyone needs to deserve to be in Australia, its not easy way to get here for many of us. Most of us are already building our future here. Ive been working hard and paying a lot of money to build something here and now Im in situation when I have to give up my dream. We, foreign people, are those ones who are supporting and raising your economy. We pay everything like every other Australian citizen, why we wont deserve to be financial supported during this tough time ?! We are asking just for a little help , mybe for the first and last time. Thank you.

Most of us have lost our jobs and it is very difficult to get a new job now. If no financial aid is offered to temporary visa holders sooner or later we wont be able to afford rent. A situation with 100s of thousands are incapable of attaining basic necessities would lead to a sharp rise in homelessness and crime rates. It is in the best interest of the public and the temporary visa holders that financial aid is extended to those of us in need.

I’m signing this petition because I am one of the million people who has been affected by the global pandemic caused by COVID-19. Being an International student, I am dependent on my guardians to pay the tuition fee. On top of that, I also have to pay my bills in here which is quite expensive.
I am obviously finding it difficult now to pay my bills as myself and my partner are not having enough work to earn. This has brought us in hard times and we are not even sure how we would pay our next months rent and other bills!
Although we aren’t permanent residents of Australia, we still are a part of this country on a temporary basis. Also, if we are considered to be one of the major sources of economy in Australia, I believe it wouldn’t be fair if we are left behind with no relaxations in this difficult situation.
Australian government can’t ignore those people because of whom an earning of billions of dollars is done and who are the main labourers carrying countless number of tasks on a daily basis to keep Australia going.
IT IS A SHAME THAT WE HAVE TO SIGN SUCH PETITIONS FOR SUCH A SMALL HELP!!

Hina Meena (Darwin, 2020-03-26)

We love this country, and we would love to stay and help this country as much it has helped our dreams. Unfortunately to go through with our dreams we don't have any help or access. We're not asking for special treatment, we're just asking for some temporary assistance that can get us back on our feet and help rebuild this economy once again.

I have quit my job and am waiting to fly home but the airlines have suspended my flight. My visa is due to expire soon and I am obliged to apply for a new visa to remain lawful and this visa would not enable me to work. I am completely clueless with how long me and my partner will have to remain here in Melbourne before the airlines start operating again due to this coronavirus crisis.

I’m signing because myself and my family are on a student visa 500. Myself and my partner both work and pay taxes in Australia and have paid a lot into its economy with the course we are undertaking. We also pay for health insurance and a huge amount to put our children into state school. We have now lost one of our jobs to support us on the little hours we can work. We want to continue to contribute towards this country’s economy and unfortunately it has been taken out of ours hands. We are asking for a little help just to see us through this difficult time.

Kimberley Cole-Jones (Sunshine Coast, 2020-03-26)
