As an Animator and artist i want to ensure that my rights are worded carefully and concisely. Anything less would not be accepted in any other proffesion and is not acceptable for mine as well.(Cape Town, 2019-02-22)

The legislation as proposed currently is not well written, has not been subject to all of the proper process, does not meet requirements for accession to international treaties and fails to address practical aspects needed for implementation across the wider creative and other IP-rich industries. Also the legislation, as proposed, will put local South African artists, creators and innovators at a disadvantage when compared to their counterparts in other countries. It presents serious disincentive to foreign direct investment (FDI) which will disappoint South Africa’s current objectives.(Cape Twon, 2019-02-22)

I feel that the bill should be made more clear and that international trade... Be it in the creative industry or otherwise ... Remain protected as a right to a freedom of expression (specifically art)The creative industry is not very diverse in South Africa so a lot of artists (myself being a designer) has to look elsewhere for the niche they want to participate in creatively...

I am signing this petition because artists, authors, musicians and all involved in the creative and academic industries require the necessary protection of their work. They should be the sole owners and be able to earn a living from their work, which will in turn lead to more creations and revenue collection by SARS. An entire industry will be destroyed and government will lose financially along with the aforementioned groups if this bill stands.(Bellville, 2019-02-25)
