I am sick and tired of being treated like a child
I do not share my cigarettes, I do not smoke zol, I pay the taxes that government can use to buy masks for our nurses every time when I LEGALLY buy cigarettes

Marna Thom (Jhb, 2020-04-30)

#4203

I have the right to make my own choices.

Gerda Rusteberg (Pretoria, 2020-04-30)

#4207

They are taking away our human rights

Debbie Cawood (BOKSBURG EXT 1, 2020-04-30)

I'm a smoker .... I cannot go without .... this is going to cause hectic stress on thousands of people.

Geraldene Roelofse (East london, 2020-04-30)

#4209

I'm signing because I smoke for more than 20yrs and it keeps me calm. And I dont share as I pay for it.and I dont do a zohl

Nazlie Manchest (Cape town, 2020-04-30)

#4210

I do believe that cigarettes should be allowed especially the people who are stressed will do more harm than good..like black market purchasing to.get hold of cigarettes

Cheryl Southgate (Ballito, 2020-04-30)

#4214

Very unfair

Chris Barnard (Springs, 2020-04-30)

#4215

Banning cigarettes does much more harm n any good. For smokers the few weeks lockdown will NOT repair any damage already caused by smoking and for non smokers its MUCH safer to be around a smoker who can settle his/her nerves with nicotine. If cigarettes get taken away, it will be very unpleasant for everyone else. Not to mention the loss of financial boost to economical disaster. NO ONE ever died of passive smoke.
In fact its proven smoker are less likely to even become infected with covid-19 thus It's actually vital the whole world's population takes up smoking ASAP

Wolfgang Meinster (Bela Bela, 2020-04-30)

#4219

I cannot think why the government would not allow selling cigarettes. We live in a democratic SA but this is a dictatorship we the only country in the world with this rule. No explanation or debate on this issue was held to hear all parties sides.

Jeannette Finnie (Alberton, 2020-04-30)

#4222

I still have a choice and don't enforce me not to have one

Melanie Horn (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#4224

I have been smoking for over 20 years. ...my doctor said if I go cold turkey my body will react extremely negative and I have a 80% chance of having a fatal heart attack...I'm a good person with no criminal records,I don't drink or do drugs...I am now being forced, and i mean FORCED!.,;to put myself in extremely dangerous situations just to stop myself having a heart attack...I will make sure the government and this woman NOT empowering group is on my grave stone for the rest of the world to see...no other county band cigarettes, ONLY SOUTH AFRICA HAS BANNED CIGARETTES...this band is very clearly a personal vendetta of non smokers against smokers and nothing to do with health or caring for the nation...I have officially lost all faith in our government and all parties that support them...your hospitals are going to be flooded by smokers having serious lethal side affects in the next week...more than half the country is going to turn against you and I 100% support them...you gave us false hope then ripped it away without warning...
You went against your own words that you said in a public speech to your county....your word means nothing anymore...you don't care about your people...the only thing you have done right is make the devil proud

Sarah Kroon (Joburg, 2020-04-30)

#4227

The minister clearly doesn't know what she's doing.....millions in revenue lost.

Patricia Strauss (Dundee, 2020-04-30)

#4229

I am a smoker and addicted. I am under enough stress without not been able to smoke and don’t want to have to buy illegal smokes

Sarah Lewis (Gauteng, 2020-04-30)

#4232

It’s my right to smoke. It’s my right to make my own decisions that involve my health. The reasons for this ban are unconstitutional and silly at best!

Kerry Witting (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#4234

I do it to relax

Henson Fenn (Vaalpark, 2020-04-30)

#4236

There's no such thing in anther County 😡

Elaine Goldstone (Lydenburg, 2020-04-30)

#4237

It's unconstitutional as it's a legal product

Thomas Parish (Cape town, 2020-04-30)

#4239

Domistic violance will increase as smokers are agitated. Selling sigarettes will also boost the economy. We are already going through tough times.

Dorette Potgieter (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#4240

This country is suppose to be a country where individuals have the freedom of choice

Ardan Hite (Somerset west, 2020-04-30)

#4244

It is ridiculous

Scott Robertson (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#4248

Violation of civil rights. Stop illicit trading.

Nina Darri (JOHANNESBURG, 2020-04-30)

#4250

I’m a smoker... need I say more 😡

Natasha Herwill (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#4251

It is dangerous to your health to quit smoking after so many years. Who is going to be liable if someone has a heart attack due to stopping immediately..

Robin Struwig (East London, 2020-04-30)

#4252

I am a smoker as is my husband. If he cant smoke 1 of us will land up in prison for murder.

Robyn Schofield (Cape town, 2020-04-30)

#4255

People are already frustrated under lockdown. Smokers will be climbing walls if they don't have cigarettes. You can't just stop this habit without help. I am not a smoker

Vyvyan Solomon (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#4260

I'm loosing my mind and getting agressive

Charmaine Wessels (Randburg, 2020-04-30)

#4262

It will prevent me from net getting covid-19
It’s will save my marriage stress relief
It calms me in this stressful times
It’s all I have left after lockdown have taken everything I have.
Mr. President how can a minister overturn your decision when you publicly announce on national tv that we can buy tabac products, know we cannot, she slap you in the face.
You will see more crime now for smokers cannot just stop smoking overnight.
Smoking do not increase covid-19

Thomas Bedford (Krugersdorp, 2020-04-30)

#4263

This is my democratic right to spoke.

Annette Van der Merwe (Kraaifontein, 2020-04-30)

#4272

We need cigarettes and helps economy

Oswald Gibson (Johannesburt, 2020-04-30)

#4273

Because we pay more now then ever for smokes. Where we payed R200 a carton we now pay R400 to R600 A carton. And iets not fair

Hettie Visser (Pta, 2020-04-30)

#4276

Black market smokes have gone from R10 to R65 per pack and available

Ian Forbes (Strand, 2020-04-30)

#4277

Because smoking help for depression and the president said yes but now its banned again!

Zelda Claassen (Oudtshoorn, 2020-04-30)

#4287

You are taking away my freedom of choice. You take what 2000 people request over what tens of thousands request. You are biased and are forming a country of criminals. We now live in a country where it is legal to smoke cannabis but not tobbaco.

Cindy Roos (Kloof, 2020-04-30)

#4291

I’m signing because it’s MY choice to smoke. They are taking away my freedom of choice

Celeste Strydom (Klerksdorp, 2020-04-30)

#4297

There is something sinister going on as the minister hangs out with black market sigarette smugglers..... why not use the taxes obtained from sigarette sales to feed the hungry. Is this country not in enough trouble already. Government is clamping down on our civil liberty and people will not stand for it. How can a minister override the president? What was this decision based on?

Estelle De Wet (Germiston, 2020-04-30)

#4299

Coca cola and many other food products, (included now during stage 4 lockdown fast food products etc.) have far more negative effects on health and are FREELY AVAILABLE TO CHILDREN

This was a political image decision after the question posed about what "political message would be sent" if smoking is permitted

Allison De Klerk (Westville, 2020-04-30)

#4303

Its a right to be able to purchase cigarettes. I'm a non smoker

David Heaphy (Malelane, 2020-04-30)

#4304

I'm a smoker and will lead me to buying back door which is been sold 2 to 3 times the price

Lionel Naidoo (Richards bay, 2020-04-30)

#4312

Lift the ban

mike simpson (rustenburg, 2020-04-30)

#4314

It's ludicrous to ban cigarettes and this is going to cause anarchy for sure

Annamarie Marrier dunienville (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#4315

Does not affect anyone whilst smoking at home

Helene Coundourakis (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#4317

Smoking is a personal choice, it has NOTHING to do with covid spreading. MY choice if I want to die of weak lungs or not, NOT for the Government to decide. They are taking the control too far now and is costing our economy billions and giving the illegal trading of sigarettes just a firmer grip to flourish in our country. They will not be able to stop this, makes one wonder if they might even have ties and profit from the illegal trade, tax free

Linda Heyns (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#4319

Human rights

Leigh-Renn Swiegers (Krugersdorp, 2020-04-30)

#4320

I have been a smoker for over 50 years and each time I have tried to stop have ended up in hospital with an attack of Ulcerative Colitis. As discussed by http://www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org/

Anne Calcutt (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-30)

#4321

Smoking may not be healthy but it is a smokers choice to smoke and without cigarettes , depression etc set's in. I haven't stopped cryingg since I found out about the ban not being lifted

Leigh Bouwer (Hermanus, 2020-04-30)

#4325

I am not a smoker but the reasoning is ridiculous - many food items and cool drinks are shared !!!! Drink out of the same 2L bottle !

Jenny Robinson (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#4327

Our option to smoke shouldn't be take away from us.

Jayde Bothma (Hermanus, 2020-04-30)

#4328

Not smoking might kill the elderly as they have been smoking a long time and quitting so suddenly is not good fir theur health. Other people might also take frustration out on family members which may result in violance.

Melanie Swartz (Alberton, 2020-04-30)

#4329

It is ridiculous to stop this ban people are more so frustrated without smoking. BRING BACK SMOKES AND ALCOHOL

Eunice Funnell (East London, 2020-04-30)

#4333

Ridiculous, people share cups of coffee, bowls of pap, so kak story Mrs zuma

Bruce Arnott (Hogsback, 2020-04-30)

#4336

I feel that this is unconstitutional. Because some people share a cigarette us not everyone else's problem. Are we going to ban cars because a few behave irresponsibly.

Leslie Vosloo (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-30)

#4343

It is my constitutional Wright.

Angus Dickson (Alberton, 2020-04-30)

I live with a smoker, and have you experience their temper without cigarettes. Definitely not, otherwise you wouldn't have ban it.

Leatitia Van Niekerk (Hermanus, 2020-04-30)

#4357

SA is suppossed to be a democratic country we are all in this thing together but the few rights we have left have been taken away, feels like we are been victimized by our own goverment and they enjoy playing "taking candy from the baby" thats just cruel

Roxsan Van der merwe (Bloemfontein, 2020-04-30)

#4359

I have the right to choose.

John O'Kennedy (Somerset west, 2020-04-30)

#4360

this is ridiculous.. I'm not a smoker.. but this government has no clue .. give the people a little joy during the lockdown.

Renton Gentz (Cape Town, 2020-04-30)

#4361

The ban is making criminals of smokers

Carla Booyzen (Johannesburg, 2020-04-30)

#4362

It's disingenuous of Government to back track at the last moment

Yuri Mohan (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#4364

It's essentially a human rights violation, you cant expect long term smokers to just give up cigarettes during lockdown. Nevermind the millions it brings to our failing economy. This is the unintelligent persuasion of a handful of government members and should be changed. It's only promoting black market sales. Would you take away someone's right to antidepressants...

Simone Odendaal (Cape Town, 2020-04-30)

#4365

I am a smoker and believe anger over sigarettes ban will start a revolution. I DONT fall into the group that SHARE CIGARETTES

Charmaine Stroebel (WELLINGTON, 2020-04-30)

#4367

Emile Marx (George, 2020-04-30)

charl Baard (cape town, 2020-04-30)

#4378

I need cigarettes to be sold again my husband need it.

Charlotte Mahlangu (Evander, 2020-04-30)

#4379

I’m signing this because it’s intruding on my human rights now.

Gerhard Pienaar (Mokopane, 2020-04-30)

#4380

I feel our civil rights are being taken away!

Lucille Pienaar (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#4381

Diane Van wyk (Cape town, 2020-04-30)

#4383

Its a ridiculous, stupid decision, for those who depend on smoking for their sanity its crazy.

ANETTE BROOKS (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#4385

The minister NDZ is a crazy woman schooled.in Zuma madness.
This us a democracy 2000 people decide for 10million?

Viven Moodley (Cape town, 2020-04-30)

#4389

I don't want to fuel the bootleg cigarette industry anymore

Siya Hem (Cape town, 2020-04-30)

#4390

I think its my constitutional right to decide whether or not I want to smoke. It does not make me violent like alcohol would make a alcoholic. On the contrary, ot relaxes me

Jolene Erasmus (Hermanus, 2020-04-30)

#4391

It is my choice to smoke

Charmaine le Roux (Alberton, 2020-04-30)

#4394

I am a smoker and feel this is against our constitutional rights.

Justin Rhoode (Caledon, 2020-04-30)

#4395

Sharing cigarette, coke or fast food which are legal makes no difference. Sharing is a pathetic excuse.

Del du Toit (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#4398

I believe the ban on cigarettes is causing more domestic violence than it already was due to people loosing their tempers more frequently being locked up in their homes. Smoking calms you down.
