I think the dog had every right to bite an intruder in his property. I'd defend myself in that situation too. Don't punish animals for what we teach them to do.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#3806

The dog should not have been declared dangerous if who he bit was an intruder. He was only protecting his property!!

(Dayboro, 2017-09-13)

#3807

One of the reasons for having a dog is to protect your property. It is an absolute disgrace by this council.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#3810

Intruders deserve all they get. The dog deserves a medal for protecting its family.

(Melbourne, 2017-09-13)

#3812

The mky city council shouldn't be acting like criminals while protecting them.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3813

Stand up for Winston rite

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3816

I'm beyond disgusted by this.. Blood sucking councils need to wise up before the people rise up. What was the Scumbags excuse for being on the property.

(Templestowe, 2017-09-13)

#3817

The dog was in his yard where he supposed to be. This person should not have been. This is the dogs job to keep people from breaking in. Maybe the owner should be suing for break and enter! Mackay council have some common sense and save the dog.

(Condon, 2017-09-13)

#3818

He was only doing his job

(VICTORIA POINT, 2017-09-13)

#3825

Seriously, what the hell was council thinking... why was the person who made the complaint doing in someone's yard at 4am???
Where has the rights to protect your home gone? We are basically opening up a can of worms showing you can acceas someone property, trespass and then charge the home owner and their family?? What a JOKE!

(Caboolture, 2017-09-13)

#3827

Because this is rediculus

(Rockhampton, 2017-09-13)

#3828

This dog was protecting its home and family it should not be punished for doing that

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3829

because you are making it dead easy for criminals to violate what l thought were our rights , looking after your rate payers should be top priority.... not helping criminals . l am so angry your lucky l kept this clean

(Bundaberg, 2017-09-13)

#3831

I'm signing because that dog was just trying to protect its owner! It should be the intruder that is punished not the victims !

(Yeppoon, 2017-09-13)

#3832

There should not have been an intruder. People have dogs for protection. No dog should suffer in any way or be killed for protecting their family and home.

(Melbourne, 2017-09-13)

#3835

He was defending the family home

(Redcliffe, 2017-09-13)

#3837

Draw the line. Someone entering a property uninvited is them putting themselves at Risk. Guard dogs should be allowed to guard effectively!

(Wembley, 2017-09-13)

#3838

Mackay Council is despicable with regards to animals in the area. They need to assess the situation properly and treat criminals as such!

(Blacks Beach, 2017-09-13)

#3839

it's the right thing

(Cannonvale, 2017-09-13)

#3844

Appalling decision by City Council. Arguebaly a breach of the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001.

(Bundaberg, 2017-09-13)

#3852

I'm signing this as it's completely ridiculous, not to mention UNFAIR to put down a guard dog that was doing its job.. guarding.
It's the persons fault for intruding, don't put that poor dog down.

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3853

He was protecting his home. That is what dogs do

(Ellalong, 2017-09-13)

#3854

I am signing because I strongly believe Winston should not be put down. Winston is a family dog who is very loved and was only doing what he is known to do and that is protect there family. An intruder has come into his yard unwelcomed and Winston has seen him to be trouble. There instinct is always right. If they feel there a treat they will protect there family. If you put him down for doing his job, you are a very pethitic person. Let him live. He was just doing his job. How would you feel if someone killed you for doing the right thing.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3856

It is absurd that this treasured family member, who is doing his job of guarding and protecting his family be condemned for doing Exactly what he's suppose to be doing! I believe that the person he allegedly bite be held accountable for trespassing!

(Tipperary, 2017-09-13)

#3857

Everyone has a right to protect their own property and the poor dog was protecting his family from someone that had no right to be there.

(Rockhampton, 2017-09-13)

#3860

This absolute bs!! Country needs a serious kick up the ass. This dog was protecting his family. Intruders deserve NO RIGHTS.

(Redbank Plains, 2017-09-13)

#3862

Winston is doing what he is made for, protect their owners. The intruder would potentially hurt this family. This Dog should be getting a medal, and teach all those intruders a lesson. Unless this council is trying to promote crime, this dog should be free to go home right now.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3864

Obviously a dog protecting its family. With all the recent break-ins happening in the area how could the council just dismiss this and kill and innocent dog. All my support goes to the owners.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3866

If the person wasn't where they shouldn't have been they would not have been bitten. It is not rocket science.

(Helensvale, 2017-09-13)

#3868

The dog was doing it's job. That person should have knocked on front door OR if wasn't a criminal(yeah not)came back at a respectable hour to speak to resident.
Good on dog for protecting it owners and family.

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3870

I believe it is unfair and appalling of the council to declare this dog dangerous. Who ever the idiot was who was breaking in shouldn't have been in the first place. If he/she did get bitten then it's well deserved.
Also to take a family's dog and have it put down with no proof of the incident is completely outrageous.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3873

It's not right when people break the law and trespass and the innocent are punished

(Melbourne, 2017-09-13)

#3875

I'm signing because winston was protecting his home and it is wrong that this is happening to him. Punishing winston is the wrong thing to do.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3876

Shouldn't the police be arresting the idiot for trespassing? Disgusting. Return the dog and cancel the fines and be very ashamed.

(Kewarra Beach, 2017-09-13)

#3880

Winston was doing his job, protecting his humans and home. How bout the guy who broke in to Winstons yard, gets puts to sleep, dont punish the furkid for doing his job. U ppl have not friggin heart.

(Cedar Grove, 2017-09-13)

#3881

One of the reasons we get a dog is for security. The dog did what it was supposed to- the intruder

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3884

I'm signing because I disagree with a dog being I pointed and euthanised because somebody broke into the yard and home. If the thief doesn't have proof that his intentions weren't criminal. Then you can't put the dog down without proof that he is a vicious animal. We have 2 border collies that wouldn't hurt a fly, they go to the dog park and play with other animals, children and people. They are beautiful animals but if someone broke into our yard at night they would do their best to protect what is THEIRS. I would not let anyone put my dog down for doing it's job. It's disgusting.

(Cairns, 2017-09-13)

#3887

An animal should not be killed for protecting his home and family against intruders that pose as a threat to their owners

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3891

The dog was protecting his owners from an intruder. The owners should not be penalised for someone else breaking the law. It is disgusting that Council has taken this stand. I always thought the onus was on proving a law was broken, not proving innocence.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3892

No dog protecting their home family or property should be put down. This is their nature no matter what the breed is. Strangers who wander into homes and property that are not invited or announced are at fault not the pet
Regards Faye

(Redland Bay, 2017-09-13)

#3893

Someone vame into the.dogs.protected & secure area without permission or the owner telling themdog they are allowed in - tough luck for the intruder. Stop pandering to those breaking the law.

(Perth, 2017-09-13)

#3895

This country gives these filthy bastards all the help and protection so they can keep making the lives harder for us hard working, taxing paying people just trying to live the life we have worked for

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3901

This is so wrong he was just doing his job, protecting his family and their property

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3909

Needlessly killing an animal for defending his family against an INTRUDER is wrong. Fines are penalty enough if you really think he was doing the wrong thing. Council should focus more on home security and punishments for the intruder. This sends the complete wrong message.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#3911

This dog was protecting its family

(Charters towers, 2017-09-13)

#3912

This beautiful pet was doing the right thing, and protecting his family. The intruder is the one in the wrong!

(Bundoora, 2017-09-13)

#3913

The person shouldn't have been in there yard.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#3915

I find it absolutely appalling that this dog will be put down for protecting it's family & property. Long may he live & continue to protect his family!

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#3919

This is completely wrong, this family doesn't deserve to loose there family pet. The dog has done but protect its family, the person that attempted to break in and the council are in the wrong!!

(Bucca, 2017-09-13)

#3920

I'm signing becauce the council has too much power just to raise revenue and I've had enough

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3921

This is an absolute disgrace. Free this dog immediately.

(Jubilee Pocket, 2017-09-13)

#3927

This poor dog was just protecting his territory- he knew the person wasn't familiar to him and it was in the middle of the night. This is unjust -he should be rewarded- After all this person was an INTRUDER into his uncles yard.

(NOME, 2017-09-13)

#3932

The dog is the to protect the family that is his job the intruder had no right being there except to brake the law so so dog did his job
Maybe instead of put Winston to death We should put the person who was going to brake into someone else's property

(Bundaberg, 2017-09-13)

#3934

Because a dogs job is to protect its owner and property. If you enter a dogs yard and get bitten you are at fault .

(Sarina, 2017-09-13)

#3937

Too many people are doing the wrong thing. The dog was doing it's job, protecting its property and family

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3938

This is wrong. People should not be trespassing on another persons property. That dog has every right to defend his family and property. The law these days protects criminals instead of victims.

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3943

A dog has the right to feel safe in it's yard, if someone entered it's safe done they will attack.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#3948

A dog should not be punished for doing its job. You enter the home of any animal and you take the risk of it being protective and defending its territory.

(Gympie, 2017-09-13)

#3951

If you're dog has to pay with his/her life to protect his/her owners from someone who has broken into their property then the work truly has gone mad.

(Beerwah, 2017-09-13)

#3952

Im signing because no animal or pet should put down or on death row for 1. Not having real evidence or proof and because pets should not be on death row for protecting there family from intruders in the middle of the night that's why they are called guard dogs

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3955

No family deserves to lose their dog because we was protecting them, I hope things work out for you xx

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#3956

Because Winston is bloody hero and should be praised for his bravery

(Wisemans ferry, 2017-09-13)

#3958

Dog was doing its job and council want to kill him.

(Bundaberg, 2017-09-13)

#3959

Very unfare

(Yarram, 2017-09-13)

#3962

This is unfair the poor dog was only trying to protect its property and is being persecuted for loving his family .

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3963

Dog done its job.

(Darwin, 2017-09-13)

#3968

I want to save this dog he was looking after his yard

(Cairns, 2017-09-13)

#3970

This is outrageous. He is their family! Family who defended his home, his family.. I cannot believe this bullcrap. Let Winston go!

(Toowoomba, 2017-09-13)

#3973

This dog was doing it job looking after its family and home you the council are wrong

(Westwood, 2017-09-13)

#3978

Shit rules. The person on a property is trespassing at midnight and unannounced.
Poor Winston, he was protecting his owners.

(Deeragun, 2017-09-13)

#3982

This is an absolute outrage. Should be congratulating the dog, not condemning it

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#3986

This is wrong the intruder needs to be punished NOT the dog

(Caloundra, 2017-09-13)

#3987

Criminals need to learn not to break into the owners home/dogs home

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#3988

This wonderful dog

(Kentville, 2017-09-13)

#3990

She my gurl

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3991

The dog can do what it likes in its own yard. Release the dog back to its owners.

(Bundaberg, 2017-09-13)

#3993

I'm signing this petition because this dog doesn't deserve to be put down for protecting his home since when does an intruder have rights. Mackay City Council if you destroy this dog hang your heads in shame.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#3999

We have our dogs for companionship but also for protection and they shouldn't be punished for doing their job

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#4000

Save Winston!! Don't let that BEAUTIFUL dog pie!

(Gordon Park, 2017-09-13)
