It’s crazy that UK HQ of parkrun has suddenly cut a lot of performance statistics … one of the many things we love about parkrun.Andrew Dodd (Warabrook, 2024-02-10)

It’s called Park Run, some run fast, some run slow. It can be inclusive whilst celebrating the achievements of the faster runners.Stanley-Hunt Jamie (Narara, 2024-02-10)

parkrun started as a time trial.I'm a ED and nobody has every said to me they are offended by seeing the quick girls and guys run fast.
I use those details when I'm interstate and overseas to see what sort of course it would be, based on the fastest times and the age catergory.

I believe the removal of age graded and course results have now excluded those loyal members that show up every week.I do believe that everyone at parkrun is made to feel included.

We have multiple levels of runners in our family from an elite junior to old me who run walks. We love the data, love looking up which Olympians hold records, which juniors are doing what where. It will be harder to get us there without this.Helen Toyne (Kaleen, 2024-02-10)

I use the performance data for a tool with my own training. I have been park running for nearly 10 years and encouraged many people to come along. Not once has anyone felt discouraged to come based on the available performance data. Park walk has now been introduced which covers the inclusion of all slow runners and walkers. This public data should not be withheld on the current stated reasons . Where was the consultation?Kaye Maas (Caboolture, 2024-02-10)

Is ridiculous that records are deleted so you don’t offend some minority that has a mental illnessSteven Mcmurtrie (Lithgow, 2024-02-10)

It makes no sense… park run is about inclusivity… so let’s include everyone… add another sex category if that is what this is all about… male, female. ‘Other’… the faster runners are an inspiration to others. They work hard, they are motivated and dedicated. For those who are not interested in the stats, no worries… they are not forced to look at the results… we all have a choice…Sharon Ryder (Gold Coast, 2024-02-10)

This measure from parkrun management will not solve the purported issue if is attempting to solve for. This measure has already alienated certain members of the running community, which is ironically against one of the key parkrun principles of genuine inclusivity for everyone.Indrajeet Aich (Sydney, 2024-02-10)

parkrun stats are the most enjoyable thing about parkrun. They promote discussion, ambition, joyous friendly rivalry and wonder.Robin Williams (Noosa Heads, 2024-02-10)

I am signing this petition because as a volunteer I see first hand the rewards for effort of all the participants, young and old. Many are there for a walk in the park, many are competitive. It is the way they are.John Bowman (Geelong, 2024-02-10)

Stats keep me motivated! And when I was a new runner coming into the parkrun ecosystem, I didn't find the publication of statistics at all off-puttingChelsea Fairley (Belmont North, 2024-02-10)

I used the data with my Parkrun Journey to loose inches from my waist. First I compared to myself, then used the times of others to give me the courage to meet people of similar performance to both improve myself and themselves. Without the data, I may not have achieved what I have.Glen B (Sale, 2024-02-10)

I am a part of a running club that has members from their 30’s to their 90’s. These people introduced me to Parkrun. I have seen first hand how access to these details inspires runners of all ages and abilities (including myself) to better themselves. Many of our members have travelled to different places purely for the opportunity to try to beat the age record, and have succeeded. Without this motivation, they may never have visited these places. Additionally, when our older members (80+) have attended other parkruns, often breaking age records, they have had other runners express how seeing them running so well at their age is an inspiration.
This knowledge is also beneficial for our runners that are in the top of their age group, in particular when training for various events. It helps them to know the level of their peers and gives them a goal to strive for.
I can’t see myself personally breaking any age records any time soon (if ever), but seeing my percentage improve motivates me to improve and inspires me to keep going.
From what I have observed, access to this information inspires people to do better, motivates them to keep going, keep trying, and to constantly improve. I have not witnessed any negatives from access to this information, only a wealth of positive outcomes. And I know my fellow running club members feel the same way. They have expressed how upset they are at the changes/removal of access to this information.

I love the fact that you are committed to encouraging and supporting beginner runners but as a pretty average runner I love seeing the achievements of what can be done, this inspires and motivates me .Please bring it back

Runners aspire to improving themselves and there times. Age champions inspire most of us to try and improve ourselves as runners. How dare you take this away from us. Some of these age champions have travelled hundreds of kilometres and spent thousands of dollars to go to different parkruns to set these records. Shame on you.Warren King (Tweed Heads South, 2024-02-10)

ParkRun HQ has lost the plot - they have not listened to their current participants.Glenn Moore (Newport, 2024-02-10)

I think it is unfair to punish those who are competitive at parkrun. I have set over 15 records at various of the events I have been to and I don’t think it is justified to steal such achievements and hide them from those who they may offend for whatever reason.Johanna Wilson (Toowoomba, 2024-02-10)

I will never be on these ‘fastest’ tables but I enjoy admiring the strength and speed behind these statistics!Alisoun Garrard (Roseville, 2024-02-10)

Performance data does not detract from anyone's experience. Parkrun is whatever you want it to be, but the removal of this data alienates those runners that want to challenge themselves against history.Tim Leach (Sunnybank, 2024-02-10)

As a walker I like seeing how fast other people have been able to complete a course. I've also been at Parkruns when records have been broken and it's great to celebrate others achievementsStephanie Macgregor (Pittsworth, 2024-02-10)

I am disgusted at the lack of respect HQ show toward the long standing dedicated parkrunners who have made parkrun the success it is.Tony Jennings (Chatsworth, 2024-02-10)

I'm signing this petition because I doubt the veracity of the process used to come to this decision and the refusal by parkrun HQ to provide me with details of the process used. Also in 12 years of parkrun involvement I have never ever had someone mention that they were turned off by the competitive sounding vibe they were hearing aboutPeter Coughlan (Marmong Point, 2024-02-10)

I will never be the fastest but I love to look at the records because it is very inspiring not discouraging. It is great to watch the fast runners trying to capture the course records. We already have record participation at Parkrun so I don’t think displaying age records or course records has discouraged any participants.Christine White (Launceston, 2024-02-10)

I don’t believe having the stats discourages anyone from joining parkrunJennifer Hynes (Cardiff, 2024-02-10)

The stats need to be bought back as they are highly motivational. I am particularly interested in the Most Events leaderboard and see no reason why this should be deleted. Parkrun is for everyone. Consultation should have included everyone and this does not show respect for Parkrunners. It’s not the correct decision.Nick Muir (Singleton, 2024-02-10)
#388
I believe in celebrating success. Seeing your friends and running colleagues doing well at a local parkrun is inspiring. The leader board is the best way to do that as well as providing a way to measure our own performance against them.David Price (Daisy Hill, 2024-02-10)
#390
I am signing because it gives every runner a chance to measure them self against the best. it just adds a lot more fun to the run. We all know that can only be one at the top. it doesn’t matter who it is.John Moloney (Essendon, 2024-02-10)

This is a ridiculous decision. Complete disregard shown to the very people whom have made parkrun what it is today. These decision makers need to remove themselves from their position of influence.Gerard Daly (Chapel Hill, 2024-02-10)

As a 60-65 female, with average parkrun times, I gain much motivation from the ‘leaders’ in my age group. I feel very excluded, ignored and unvalued as a consequence of this changeJo Inglis (Gold Coast, 2024-02-10)
