Community safety needs to be protected, animal welfare needs to be protected, attempts to support this from the community have not been sufficiently successful over many years.Effective protection is needed now from our authorities entrusted to provide this.

Ongoing neglect & animal cruelty. Find it hard to believe that the relevant authorities have yet to take action given the danger to road users, not to mention the suffering these creatures have had to endure.Samantha Nelson (Avonsleigh, 2023-08-14)

The cows in question have no voice, I sign this petition to advocate for them as they deserve better. They deserve a secure property on which to live to avoid more deaths from getting out aswell as to avoid serious injury to road users. They deserve owners that can provide them with adequate food and health care so they don't suffer illness and starvation leading to more deaths. Over my 40+ years living in the area I have myself been witness to countless occasions day and night of cows being out of their fence teetering on embankments very close to the road or on the road an accident waiting to happen. I have called police to report for safety of road users on all occasions fearing for the welfare of the animals also. I have also witnessed the lifeless body of one cow that fell 7+ foot down an embankment that had to be euthenaised where it lay due to its terrible injuries. A heartbreaking sight that I wished I didn't have to see as it's death was preventable, but sadly for years and years pleas from the public for the animals welfare have fallen on deaf ears.Angel Thomas (Gembrook, 2023-08-15)

I have personally called the police on a few occasions when cows & calves have gotten through the fences onto the road. The road is scary enough during daylight being faced with a cow, let alone at night. The fences need to be restrung for the safety of all. It is risky for all local drivers, imagine tourists that are unaware of what hapoens & don't get to see the numerous notifications on the local fb community page issuing warnings about a cow being out. Is there something that can be done as a community to get the fencing fixed?Angelina Gannon (Gembrook, 2023-08-16)

I’ve seen inside of this filthy property myself around 10 years ago, having to dodge wandering cattle on Phillips rd, avonsleigh, which I reported to the council. Also reported wandering cattle on strawberry corner, avonsleigh to the police, very late one night.
I spoke to the owners at the time as well.
Obviously nothing was done about it.
The fences were in appalling condition and collapsed when I first moved to Cockatoo in 1999. An old man was known to sell off eggs from a stall there.
I can’t believe that this is still going on 24 years later!!!!

I have seen so many animals suffering at this property. I’ve seen dogs chasing calves to the point of exhaustion. I’ve seen cows out on the road, and there was also a downed cow there 6 months ago who was in such poor shape that members of the public had to step in and organise her euthanasia.Joanne Lee (Emerald, 2023-08-17)

These animals need help and pose a risk to the public on a very dangerous road. It would appear that every government department has been made aware of the situation. Completely over the inaction and handballing between gov departments. This situation needs to be fixed before someone is killed or injured and more suffering is endured by these poor animals.Sonia Athanaileas (Gembrook, 2023-08-20)

This is a balant abuse of animals from the owner of the property, also a health and safety risk for people travelling on the roads. This must be attended to asapCaroline Glass (Aspendale, 2023-08-21)

I demand something needs to be done to save ALL the animals on this property from the ongoing neglect. There are dogs, cats and livestock that need to be assessed and rescued on this property and the owners need to be educated and monitored by the RSPCA and local councilMichelle Koros (Wandin Nth, 2023-08-24)

I’m fed up with authorities not taking any action. This has been an ongoing issue for as long as I can remember & having lived here for 30 years enough is enough.
Neglect charges need to be bought against these owners, livestock should be treated with the same compassion by the authorities ( RSPCA) as companion animals. Sadly RSPCA are also neglecting these cows and calves.

It’s a total disgrace how these animals are maltreated. It’s dangerous for road users as cows are continuously getting out in search of foodDelia Curran (Cockatoo, 2024-09-05)
