I lived on Palmerston Ave. a little north if Signir Grosso and would see him push his candy and popcorn truck up the alley in the morning and down the alley in the evening.
I worked at the Royal Ontario Museum for years and he was there with his cart outside in all kinds of weather selling his snacks to the children visiting the museum. Mr. Grosso brought his bright red up and down the laneway in rain, sun, snow and ice. Truly a Toronto icon.

My father would take me shopping in Kensington Market on weekends. A special treat would be hot chestnuts from Franco, keeping my hands warm, the scent and delicate flavour filling my senses. At 51, Franco is central to one of my favorite childhood memories.
He was a staple figure in the city, bringing joy to many, he should be recognized as such.
