I am a home owner and resident of Hervey Bay and believe due to the tidal nature of The Bay, a swimming lagoon would be an excellent addition for tourists and permanent residents. A great attraction and activitie for all ages. Not just small children.Paula Martin (Torquay, 2022-04-23)

The huge variance of the water due to the tides, gives a definite need for an enclosed area like Townsville & other Qld coastal cities have. Added to that, the difficulty for those with special needs to access our beautiful salt water, makes it an easy decision to provide something. Then there is the issue of providing safety from sharks. It really is a "no brainer" .Noela Tziarkas (Urangan, 2022-04-24)

Love the proposal for a beautiful lagoon style swimming enclosure to enhance the already beautiful Bay. Airline Beach and Cairns are good examples.Jan Gillman (Torquay, 2022-04-24)

We need a lagoon that is free to the public and accessible for all and not just on the school holidays. We can’t keep relying on whale season to bring in tourists when whale season lasts less than 6 months. We need tourists because with tourists we get jobs. Please use common sense.Nicole Rudd (4655, 2022-04-24)

I'm signing because I moved to Hervey Bay in 2017 & rarely I will go for a swim in the pools, because of the chlorine. I've been a lifesaver in my past & LOVE swimming in the ocean, have always used ocean pools. You can swim in them anytime of the day & feel safe. I would love to see one built here. Thank youColleen Willner (Hervey Bay, 2022-04-24)

I’m signing because I’ve seen areas further north with enclosures for safety from stingers and sharks and I believe this would be a benefit to all. We spent two years in Mackay and one thing that Hervey Bay genuinely does not measure up to is the swimming facilities. The pool here is dated and not user friendly. Take a look at other regional facilities and go one better.

I truly believe this is positively needed for all age groups, disabled, elderly and youth. A shark attack is just waiting to happen on the Esplanade beaches. If not, another aquatic centre out Dundowran Beach way.Bev Hosking (Dundowran Beach, 2022-04-25)

Everywhere there is a beach should be a lagoon. Not only is it safer for younger kids but it’s also perfect for people with any sort of disability. Also for the elderly. Remember they all want to feel and swim in the ocean also.Chris Barry (Brisbane, 2022-04-26)
