University of Michigan COVID-19 Booster Mandate

Comments

#202

Boosters are not medically necessary for this population, can carry risks, particularly for young men.

Joni McGary (Bloomington, 2022-01-24)

#203

I’m signing this petition because people I care deeply about are being asked to take a vaccine that there is no scientific evidence that they need or that prevents in the transmission of this virus. This is an experimental vaccine that no human should be forced to take to get an education.

Shelley Zeolla (Shelby Township, 2022-01-24)

#206

Vaccinations should be by personal choice. People should want to take the vaccine. If not, then nothing more needs to be said.

Robert Borowski (Rochester, 2022-01-24)

#207

The above stated reasons in the petition!
The boosters are unnecessary and can potentially harm students.

Nancy Lonnstrom (Sterling Heights, 2022-01-24)

#210

The booster vaccination will not protect from the Omicron variant . The original vaccinations did not protect form becoming infected or spreading the virus. The students at the University are at minimal risk and should never have to chose between their degree and potential adverse health consequences .

Anna Kulczycki- Mittag MD (Shelby Twp, 2022-01-24)

#211

People need to be free to choose what’s right for themselves. Vaccine doesn’t prevent spread of COVID-19.

Alex Mittag (Shelby township, 2022-01-24)

#216

supreme Court ruling mask mandate is not Constitutional

David Holly (Belle Mead, 2022-01-24)

#219

I completely concur with the content of this petition, in its entirety; and I definitely support its logical and objective purpose. Please take into consideration actual scientific and medical research and investigation concerning this issue. Data results will completely support this petition. Please rescind this, both physically and psychologically harmful, mandate.

Maria Bianchini (Shelby Township, 2022-01-24)

#224

I don't believe vaccines should be mandated but rather should be a personal choice

Mary Tomaszewski (Macomb, 2022-01-24)

#227

There is no scientific data that supports the decision to force this shot on healthy people of sound mind. It is indisputable that it does not stop the spread and it does not stop infection. It is time to allow free people to exert their free will and make medical choices that suit them.

Maria Cristiano (Harrison, NY, 2022-01-24)

#228

I don’t think mandate Covid vaccine will prevent Covid cases. Stop forcing this unsafe vaccine to young people. If school forces vaccination, school should be responsible for any side effects that students developed afterwards. We are paying you big money for our children’s education, not for forcing vaccination to them!

I am a 31-year highly experienced physical therapist, with 13 of those years in acute care at UMHS, an excellent employment record, including a strong 2020-2021 Annual Performance Review qualifying me for the merit bonus. However, I no longer work at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center nor Main Hospital due to this vaccine mandate. I am still participating in the UM IASO study for Essential Workers, an ongoing study of my UNvaccinated COVID "super antibodies" with current level 2000% above therapeutic levels (therapeutic level positive for COVID antibodies 0.7, my level 141.7). THIS should count, a positive COVID antibody lab test.

This vaccine doesn't work, period! You can call whatever you want breakthroughs, less effective against omicron, etc. I see absolutely no difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated. Maybe in the slight severity difference, But no big deal, especially for healthy young college Kids. Not worth risking on its unknown future potential devastating side effects.

Kelly Shang (Stamford, 2022-01-24)

I never thought that the right to bodily autonomy would have to be at the top of my daughter’s wish list for colleges, but I can promise that it is. Members of my own family have sustained heart damage secondary to this vaccine; I fail to understand why a cohort that's at an infinitesimally small risk with a high level of natural immunity is being targeted for forced vaccination. As a RN, MSN with a background in research, the current data simply do not support your directives. Where there is risk, there must be choice.

I am signing this because a mandate that forces an individual to permanently inject themselves with a substance that they have no way of knowing how it may possibly affect them later in life is unethical. This does not stop an individual from spreading it to others. It is only meant to take away their personal choice of weighing the options and deciding what is best for their own person.

Nicole Martin (La Salle, 2022-01-24)

#237

I am a Michigan Alumni and I do not think people should be forced to choose between a medical treatment and an education.

Colleen Schmidt (Wayland, 2022-01-24)

#245

Mandating boosters and or vaccinations is unethical and putting your staff and students at an unnecessary risk.

Anita Hatfield (Hartland, 2022-01-24)

#248

Because we live in a country that allows freedom of choice! The science behind this “vaccination” has not proven to be effective. Vaccines PREVENT diseases not lesson symptoms. It is not right to force something we don’t know the long term affects on. More research is needed before forcing this onto people!

Brittany Shepard (Warren, 2022-01-24)

I am signing this because I am completely against the mandate. People should have a choice if they want to be vaccinated or not. The vaccines and the boosters do not work.

Lori Schweiger (Casco, 2022-01-24)

#285

I believe vaccine mandates are taking away our freedom to chose what we put in our bodies as humans and causing significant side effects

Missy Hewitt (Spring Lake, 2022-01-24)

#291

Persons should have a choice as to what to put in their bodies. The vaccine has not been proven to be effective nor has it been vetted for long term side affects. Let people research and make their own decisions.

Theresa Livingston (Macomb, 2022-01-24)

#301

I am signing because this is fundamentally wrong to try and mandate an experimental drug without full consent and acknowledgment of risks and benefits. Bodily sovereignty and free choice is to be protected to the utmost. Persons that can think critically understand that there are many nefarious agendas at play which are a detriment to society as a whole. This mandate should not go forward. Freedom of choice must be maintained and options for early treatment must be released to physicians and health care providers to end this month pandemic as they did in India.
Thank you!

My body my choice. We should not mandate vaccines or boosters and deny college students of their education because of mandates on vaccines. People have the right to choose.

These tyrannical measures need to end. A school has no business requiring a medical procedure

Jacqueline Lee (Grosse Ile, 2022-01-24)

#326

I had Covid in 2020 and got the two shots last year to keep in good standing with my employer. I made my feeling know about this forced vaccination to my direct supervisor. Got covid again at the beginning of this year after being fully vaccinated. Heard from the University Doctors during their live stream state that natural immunity is in reliable and to get the booster which is more unreliable. Makes me question the motives behind the mandate and it violates what I believe is best for me.

It is not right to mandate a vaccine we don’t have research on to know long term side effects. It is not a vaccine as it does not prevent the disease!

VAERS data. Vaccine injuries are piling up. Use effective treatments and prophylactic care. Get informed from Dr. Peter McCullough, Dr. Robert Malone, Dr. Ryan Cole, Steve Kirsch, ...

I’m against forcing young, vulnerable people to do things which could be (!) good for a group but not beneficial for individual.
Forcing them requires taking responsibility for the consequences of results (possible death..); which nobody wants to do.
Knowing anatomy, physiology, biochemistry.. I would suggest, and I promote the opinion of leaving undeveloped yet immune system of young (until 25 years old) people alone.
It’s a crime to be invasive toward our natural development : help, care- YES, but only with voluntarily agreement of individual!

Barbara Slominski (Macomb, 2022-01-25)

My son is 21 years old. Has had Covid and is fully vaccinated. He is healthy and works out regularly. Evidence has established that the threat to his health from omicron is minimal or non existent. As vaccinated and unvaccinated people can still pass the virus, and he is still required to wear a mask in class, not quite sure why as he graduates in about 80 days after the booster requirement he needs to be boosted at this point.

Louis Theros (GP Farms, 2022-01-25)

#359

Where there is risk there must be choice. There have been adverse reactions to the vaccines, including death. Each individual should be able to assess their risks vs benefits and decide what is best for them and their family.

I had the 1st 2 doses, there’s not enough study that it’s even safe down the road, people are still catching Covid & wearing masks after the shot. I am not a study subject. My body is my temple.

Tammy Lambert (Westland, 2022-01-25)

#385

I believe in vaccines. I think they work. However, there is not enough long term data to convince me that this vaccine will not cause any harm in the future. I am already vaccinated for COVID-19 and have also had the disease. I don’t understand why my on-campus life is being threatened if I do not comply when I am an unlikely threat to anyone else. Students should be able to choose for themselves whether to get this vaccine, and no one in a position of power should have the right to choose what students put in their body. I am not religious and have no medical conditions that I know of, so getting this booster would be the only way I don’t lose my on-campus life including playing baseball, which is my passion.

The booster is not preventing people from getting or sharing the illness. There are risks associated with the vaccine. Many students and staff have already had the illness. They shouldn’t have to choose between their livelihood or future and the booster.
