I've lived in this area my whole life. This sale of land will destroy the homes of many animals that reside there. The animals have the right to continue living in their habitats and to not get killed off by construction or human interference.(Burnaby, 2017-10-20)

We have this small little chunk of forest left, please to not destroy it. For those of us who live in the area and use these woods this will be devastating to us. Please do the right thing. On your death bed you wont be able to take the money with you.(Burnaby, 2017-10-20)

I live in the area, these forest needs protection(burnaby, 2017-10-20)

We must reserve the very little of forest we have left and especially to the hands of another developer who will turn around and sell ONLY to foreigners(Vancouver, 2017-10-20)
#215
There are few intact forests. And many animals live there. They should be allowed to live too. Trees keep our air pure. Not more towers.(Bby, 2017-10-20)

Live in the area and explore the forrest with my three year old. Can't speak enough to the value the forrest and trails bring to the residents of the area.(BURNABY, 2017-10-20)

This is a bountiful habitat for wildlife.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

City of Burnaby, City Hall & Government is destroying & selling all the most beautiful BC Forest,Parks & green habitat area to overseas Developers,Investors for a housing development.Over 60% of those new houses & apartment are siting empty & residents can't afford the high prices anymore or find place to leave & rent. There is absolutely no new roads build by City, luck of schools etc .The City is only interested in earning money on the sale of land to foreigners and destroying every beautiful green Forest,Park & green area.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

Stop destroying the environment and ecosystems in the name of a quick dollar.(Surrey, 2017-10-21)

It would be incredibly short sighted to develop into this area. Most of the time what is best for the environment isn't the easiest or the most profitable. People need to have the integrity to stand up and do the right thing.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)
#225
This needs to stop! Which municipality sells green belted area to developers? Environment comes before cash.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)
#226
I enjoy the area for my daily route to work. I dont want to see it developed and get over populated. We need more green space for ourselves and our children.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)
#228
I value this park land and it is a gem for the community to continue having access to it like I did growing up.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)
#231
Enough development in this area. Leave treed areas for future generations and the resident wildlife. The traffic is becoming unbearable in this area due in part to the massive ongoing development between marine way and the river.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

I want my kids to grow up with nature not in a dense concrete jungle. When we first moved into the Edmonds area, we used to hear frogs, crickets and coyotes. Now, it's car alarms, loud cars ,and screeching tires. Let's try and preserve this area especially now that Brynes Creek has salmons returning to spawn annually.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

I’ve seen the beautiful coyotes, barred owls, and so many birds that this forest houses. Maintaining this forest is important for the environment, humans, and animals.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

Because there has been way too much development on the south slope already and it is valuable habitat(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

This project should go through a Environmental Assessment of this entire area, as per the *Edmonds Town Centre Plan September 26, 1994. * Page 7 First Paragraph.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

Forested land must preserved as it is a habitat for animals and to sustain the ecology of the area.(New Westminster, 2017-10-21)
#254
This is absurd. 1/2 of the original forests in this area were already torn down, even if on preserved land.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)
#255
We have to stop it now. Otherwise we would lose the whole forest in couple years.(Burnby, 2017-10-21)
#256
Mature forested areas in an increasingly urban Burnaby are a limited resource that should be preserved for both current and future residents.Additionally the full size and perimeter of the parcel in question is not clearly defined on the signage posted by the city.

I'm signing because wildlife conservation is important than cash.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

I live in the area and walk daily in the park. Love it, the feeling of being away in the wild while still so close to home. Saw a coyote and the Owls once while walking through the park. Enough with destroying the nature for profit!!(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

I believe taking the small amounts of forested area we habe left around the greater Vancouver is a threat to our health.(Coquitlam, 2017-10-21)

It's important to save these environments and there are better alternatives with land already available.(New Westminster, 2017-10-21)
#293
We need to keep some forests in this area.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)
#297
I don't think it is fair to say by city council that as we living here now nobody can live and build. We are talking about essential forest site where lots of creatures lives as mentiobed in the petition. There is a creek as well. It is needed to be assessed by environmental department how and what extent removing the trees will affect the forest living and soil. There are lots of highrises building this time in our city in Metrotown and Brenwood . There is lots place to leave. Look at the West Vancouver statistic: how many bought but empty appartments out there. Owners not living there. My point is is it really necessary to destroy small part of the forest?! Our lungs!(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

This is a very beautiful and unique forest area.We need these green spaces so much now and with the climate change rapidly coming, we need it desperately.
This forested area is an extreme gem and having lived here for 15 years, we consider it very close and personal to us.
Also, the animals. We have destroyed so much of the livable habitat for the animals in Burnaby in the last decade (and everywhere in the Vancouver area). It's a tragedy. The Byrne Woods area supports so many beautiful animals, and its so heartwarming when we encounter these animals while walking through our park.
It's so easy to sell of a chunk of the park here and there, and it will keep happening. We have to say NO now. We have so many huge housing areas being built in this immediate area - we don't need any more mega projects.
It's absolutely destroying our beautiful Burnaby. Years ago I read that Burnaby was committed to always having 30% green space, now I read that it's 25% green space. Pretty soon it will be nothing if we don't stop now. Burnaby is one of the most beautiful livable cities because of our green spaces. With every huge housing project coming up - and there are so many being developed as we speak - we are taking away the beauty of Burnaby. These projects are quickly increasing the huge population growth and we already see that our current traffic system cannot handle. It's turning into a traffic nightmare.
We need to do everything we can to protect our needed parks and forests.
(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)

It is important to keep green space in our city for the wildlife and overall beauty that draws us here.(Burnaby, 2017-10-21)
#313
We have moved to this area one year ago because of this beautiful forest. It is only one beautiful part in this area. This park provides home to many animals, how someone can even think about destroying it. I understand that people who don't live around don't care but we do!!!!!! There is no way someone will touch this piece of land, we will fight(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)
#314
Destroying this part of the park would be disastrous for the wildlife and also locals who use it on a regular basis.(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)
#315
Driving along Byrne road I was dismayed to the signboard up. Leave the forest alone. There is more enough condos going up in Lougheed, Brentwood and Edmonds areas.(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)
#316
I am signing because I am all for protecting the environment for Wildlife and future generations.(Surrey, 2017-10-22)

I believe the city can do better to upgrade already existing lots and buildings rather than destroying the nature that cannot be taken back once it's taken out(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)

I live in burnaby. Local wildlife needs to be safe(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)
#321
I'm signing because I want to save our forest from greedy developers.(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)
#323
There are animals in the forest that have lost much of their habitat already when so many additional developers greedily put up shoddy buildings. Vancouver cut down an entire forest along Marine way to build Riverside, in Marsh area, by the river. We are losing greenspace. Don't keep allowing it to happen.
(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)
#337
Leave our forest alone. We do not need more UN-affordable housing at the cost of losing more green space. This area is a part of a wonderful park and must be left untouched.(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)
#342
Stop the rape and plunder of our remaining wild spaces!(martinez, 2017-10-22)

I have lived in this area for almost sixty years, I spent many hours of my life enjoying these woods and ensuring that future generation would also. I spent more than twenty years to ensure the preservation of the Byrne Creek Ravine were I lived, to stop the building of the Gilley alternate that was to connect Edmond's to Marine Way via the ravine, I also ensured that future citizens of Burnaby would have other park space to enjoy in the future as our population grew. As I stated in the last election Burnaby needs to examine to what level of population it is able to sustain and be able to maintain it''s self as a livable city after all we have to live within our environment. I can remember when the stride ave. gravel pit did not exist but was part of this forest. In the nineties I purposed that we have neighborhood advisory committees so the neighborhoods could have direct input as to how there neighborhood would be developed. unfortunately this process was hijacked right from the beginning and is worse to day. My family has lived in Burnaby for some eighty years we have ensured that Burnaby is financially sound and debt free and properly planned to ensure that Burnaby is the best place to live and work. I would like to thank the people responsible for this petition for having an interest in there community and it's future.(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)
#350
I live nearby and it's a favourite walk for all neighborhood residents. It's an important selling point of the neighborhood. If you hunt down the trees to make money, you'll also at the same time take away what's make this neighborhood valuable. Please consider the non monetary benefits of keeping this beautiful area - the birds, the animals, the clean air produced, the physical and mental health of those who enjoy spending time here..... Not all neighborhoods need to be overly developed like Brentwood and Metrotown. Keep this area a tranquil backyard for the neighborhood to get away too.(Burnaby, 2017-10-22)

My children walk in this area all the time as their caregiver/family lives nearby! Protect what green space is left!(New Westminster, 2017-10-23)
#370
I live in the area and love this forested area. One of the reasons I love the neighbourhood is the easy access to nature and the outdoors for my children. I would hate to see this disappear!! There is so much research showing the benefits of nature and outdoor time for people of all ages; we need more outdoorsy-ness, not less!(Burnaby, 2017-10-23)
#372
This is one of the last green areas in Burnaby. I would like to think Burnaby is governed by the people in who they elect as a representative, in order to best represent each of us as a united community. This is the reason we moved to Burnaby and away from Vancouver which has clearly sold out from their original tenants. Please don’t be the next Burnaby.(Burnaby, 2017-10-23)

I am signing because I recently spent time examining regional ecology and have seen with my own eyes why it is vital to protect intact natural spaces. Development isn't always the answer.(New Westminster, 2017-10-23)

Worldwide, far too many important natural environments are being destroyed, at a time when environmental quality and sustainability must be our primary considerations as a hedge against encroaching climate change. Please save Byrne Creek Forest East!(Portland, OR, 2017-10-23)

This is a rare piece of wooded area that should be saved in our urban craziness. We need to keep these wooded jewels for people and local wildlife to retreat to.(New westminster, 2017-10-23)
