Comments

#3202

I'm signing because I disagree with city power electricity service fee.

Fhatuwani Mufamadi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3203

We want to reject the service fees as we see this as corruption and stealing from customers.
No one said we will pay this and it was just implemented crippling the society and making more and more people to steal and take bribes.

Geraldine Lourend (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3204

This service fee was sprung on us as a people of South Africa, we live in a democracy but are being run like and autocratic government. The cost of living is already high as it is.
Electricity is a basic right as well.

Gustav Damons (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3208

I'm signing because this R200 is crippling us middle income earners.

Yasaar Baker (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3209

service fee imposed by City Power must be scrapped. it is day light robbery

Thendo Netshidzate (Johannesburg South, 2024-07-04)

Affordability, I refuse to pay more for others to benefit and steal more.

Karen Daniels (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3215

I'm signing because of affordable

Abigail Manneson (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3218

I'm signing this petition because I'm finding it unfair for this service Fee to go ahead while alot of people are unemployed and our economy is underperforming.

Aluwelwa Walaza (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3222

I recently bought a house In which I'm even struggling with the bond, and levies, now it's electricity, I'm just an ordinary citizen who's working as a nurse at the entry level in which I'm earning lesser , I'm a single parent of 3, so how do I survive with paying extra R200 in which I try to survive with R50 electricity weekly

Charlote Makhoba (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3223

To withdraw the service fee implemented by NERSA and City Power

Zandi Tshabalala (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3225

There's was no proper consultation and the service fee is already built into the prepaid unit price. So I am paying more per unit plus paying a service fee!

Graham Botes (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3226

Its a rip off for us paying customers. Basically we are paying for those none paying customers. Nersa and city power are making us pay for other people's corruption.

Mapule Mazibuko (Johannesburh, 2024-07-04)

#3228

The City is exploiting it's residents. With the high unemployment rate, minimal salary increases that don't reflect the same as the inflation rate, how are we expected to pay R200 over and above the 12% increases, considering all other hikes that Nersa has approved. Day light robbery for the middle class who make an effort to pay as law abiding citizens.

Kenosi Modiga (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3230

It's crazy that we should pay to bailout theae immoral idiotic and disgusting criminals through an absolutely appalling service charge that has NEVER been needed before.

Chris Jameson (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3235

the cost of electricity is becoming a burden to society. the rate of unemployment per household is not taken into account, when applying these penalties.

Daleinn Choonoo (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3237

I dont approve of paying a service fee when we have officials that waste our funds and cannot account, more so these individuals have doen nothing to assist the poor and destitute.

Irfaan Buckus (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3245

It's Unfair and a Burden on 5he Already struggling consumer. Especially me and my Family. My Son is A graduate with a Methurlagical Engineering Degree from University of Pretoria. He is Unemployed for 3 years now. I am unemployed and my wife is unemployed. It is a struggle Daily just to put a plate of food on the table and the assistance we receive from family is minimal. We don't receive any form of grant.

Niraj Durgean (Pretoria, 2024-07-04)

#3246

I’m signing this petition because I can barely survive with the economy being so exhorbitant and high. Being a widow it’s just too much!!!

Gail Julius (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3249

I object to the R200.00 service fee automatically deducted from my electricity recharge amount

Angela Gray (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3250

Because Ian sick and tired of having to pay for all the stealing , corruption, inefficiencies etc - as consumers we are always having to pay pay pay and receive less less less - enough is now enough !!!!!

Morris Galimberti (Johsnnesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3252

Angeke ngikhone ukubhadala u R200 monthly, ngibe ngithetha ugesi.CHA ANGIVUMI PHANSI NGO R200 PHANSI.

#3253

I do not support this service.

Sanele Genge (MIDRAND, 2024-07-04)

#3255

I think this increase is unfair.

Tasnim Ally (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3256

I will not afford to pay for a service fee of R200 it's too much. Already the electricity K/W have reduced drastically. For R400 you get 136kw, it's nit fair at all.

Nonsikelelo Nala (Randburg, 2024-07-04)

#3258

The service fee is unjustified considering that Pre paid electricity units are more expensive than traditionally supplied electricity.

Jacobus Lotter (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3262

I am concerned that city power fails to collect from those that are bridging electricity and those of us who work hard and do the right thing we must suffer. I say no to this fee

Richman Ndindwa (Fleurhof X27, 2024-07-04)

#3263

Unaffordable !

Mohammed aslam Ebrahim (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3270

We can't afford this. We are struggling financially ams well as electricity cost is high enough, I believe the costs aren't going to costs, it's corrupt.

Michelle Thomson (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3272

I'm signing this petition because, I'm battling to put food on the table for my family, my husband is a pensioner & I'm not far from being a pensioner. We just don't have that extra money and with this extra expense I don't know how we going to survive

Althea Cupido (Kibler Park, 2024-07-04)

#3274

We already pay a lot for service we don't get. Fix the service and then maybe, with consultation, we'll consider it.

Kirsten Filer (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3275

I’m signing this petition as I support it .

Devan Naidoo (JOHANNESBURG SOUTH, 2024-07-04)

#3276

I don't agree with these ridiculous high charges
A Call to South Africans who are angry, frustrated and tired about the way our municipalities are being run. There is a lot of mismanagement within our municipalities and that we are not getting value for their money. This petition is calling for an end to corruption and for officials to be held accountable. City Power Gauteng has imposed a mandatory R200 monthly Service charge fee over and above a 12.7% electricity tariff increase which both took effect 1 July 2024.

• We are demanding that the monthly service fee imposed by City Power be scrapped completely and that proper consultation be conducted with the Province residents.

• The petition is calling for Gauteng residents to hold their municipalities accountable.

• As petitioners we believe that NERSA is not doing its job properly and that this is leading to higher electricity prices.

• As petitioners we stand firm our beliefs that the burden of incompetent city officials should not be transferred to the consumers.

• We are calling for their leaders to be solution driven and to hold NERSA accountable for its poor decision making costing consumers financially.

• We are demanding the results and minutes of public paticipation sessions for this Service fee charges displaying consumers support for the implementaion thereoff
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... NOT ON OUR WATCH !!!

Jennifer Mynhardt (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3278

I am signing this because it's unfair to us we don't earn much.

Phindi Ngwana (Gauteng, 2024-07-04)

#3279

No consultation was done. Prepaid users pay for their electricity and we are being penalised for paying. We are subsidising those that either don’t pay or who steal electricity. Don’t piss off your paying customers. Rather do something about the non-payers and thieves.

Joan Dent (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3283

I am disgusted by the increase in fees and service charges from COJ. Their costs are ridiculous and we are funding people who are not paying

Kevin Botes (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3284

This is daylight robbery. They must deal with people that are not buying electricity.

Sabelo Mahlinza (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3286

The price of electricity is ridiculous...no middle income family can live like this and survive...same with rates and taxes

Dean Magerman (Boksburg, 2024-07-04)

#3288

I'm signing because of the high increase in tariffs that do not match a person's salary increment. Added to this is the fact that there is absolutely no accountability in the performance of City Power. There are so many mistakes made when effecting repairs to which the person who made the mistake,
is not held accountable!

Siobhan Diss (Gauteng, 2024-07-04)

#3289

I am against the electricity service fee. Electricity is already so costly.

Edwin Paul (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3291

This is fee that does not make sence

Dirk Rust (Gauteng, 2024-07-04)

#3292

I cannot afford this

Thembi Khoza (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3296

The R200 levied on residents is totally unfair, we already paying City of Jobeg more than R1000 in Municipality charges. We are suffering our salaries are stagnant.

Mlayo Moyo (Randburg, 2024-07-04)

#3300

Gross Mismanagement has cause R10billion debt.
How dare we be told prepaid was for the low income when i was forced to have prepaid in 2012 when building in a high income suburb.
Prepaid was to Improve cash flow and lower debt. My wife even worked on the project. This is to get around the regulator only allowing a small % increase.
Those on lower incomes are hit the hardest with this as a percentage.
I read nothing about this beforehand, seems to have just been sprung upon the residents. A coincidence there was an election just before? Or just poor communication?

James Close (Randburg, 2024-07-04)

#3301

This is extortion by the City. Law abiding residents are made to pay the price of corruption and theft at the COJ.

Hussain Dewan (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3303

I cannot afford the fee monthly as the tariff increase has already affected us when purchasing electricity as we are already spending more than we can afford.

Diedray Smith (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3304

Not prepared to pay the service charge

EBRAHIM Nanabhai (lenasia, 2024-07-04)

#3305

Salik

Salik Qayyum (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3306

I feel that the fee is just another way of taking g money from people and enriching the pockets of those that is already stealing from the existing funds

Carlo Clark (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3307

I’m against the R200 fee that City Power and Nersa has imposed on us. We are already financially stretched as people, with minimum service delivery from the government. The government and its entities keep on finding new ways to offend our basic human rights.

Jabu Nhlapo (Randburg, Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3314

I do not agree with the additional charge of R200 especially after the recent service tariff increase. This is a rip off and consumers cannot be made scapegoats and used for the incompetence of municipal city officials.

Siya Ziqubu (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3318

Im singing because the service fee has been imposed on us while theres millions of people with ilegal connections and yet nothing is being done about it yet us thats struggling to make end meet are being punished with this fee

Shaheen Mahomed (Lenasia, 2024-07-04)

#3319

I’m signing because , I don’t think it’s fair to be charged R200 monthly for service fees, already we are struggling to keeping the lights on, and in this economy, this government is not for the people, but for themselves

Charmaine Rakgogo (Krugersdorp, 2024-07-04)

#3320

I am a prepaid user because finance's are tight and i can only afford prepaid electricity, pay as you go this helps me to budget

marius williams (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3323

We are already paying so much in Taxes, for food, fuel, insurances, and above that the price has increased as well. Why not just increase the price. If service delivery from City Power was better, but your service is terrible and we see no benefit for paying this at all.

Why do I need to pay for others to thrive on free electricity??? And above that they dont even get loadshedding?

Annuska Pretorius (Roodepoort, Gauteng, 2024-07-04)

#3324

I cannot afford the amount of the fee

Chantel Bell (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

I am against this. We as south Africans are already struggling to make ends meet. I am tired.

Tania King (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3329

Unfair costs on us as citizens. Corruption and poor management led to this.
Citizens can't be expected to pay for wrongdoings of reckless people in municipalities

Welcome Nguza (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3331

No proper engagement was done, it adds a huge burden to us who are already paying exhorbitant amounts for electricity. The middle class is suffering

#3335

I’m against the City Power Electricity Service Fee

Neo Montisi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3336

In agreement with the items below.

Warren McGregor (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3340

Why must I pay a minimum fee when I am also paying the increased tariff. The monthly bill that does not get affected irrespective o the loadshedding and days with no water. Why must we the citizens pay the brunt of corrupt leaders. Gatvol of this country's leaders.

Razia Jooma (Robertsham, 2024-07-04)

Tyrelle Taljaard (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3353

I'm signing because this is nit Transparent and R200 can't be included with Electricity tarrif increases. R200 is a massive jump percentage wise on a monthly spend without the new increase tarrifs. What about the old people and poor people who are barely surviving

Fazel Absalom (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3354

I'm signing because of the rate on electricity

Vuyile Dladla (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3358

It is not our fault that the city is in debt when we pay our side every month!

LaRhone Swanepoel (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3361

We cannot afford to live like this. It's unethical to increase the cost of electricity and add a service fee when no service is taking place.

Sarah Jawhari (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3363

Tired of being tax and charged for everything but service delivery is dismal, and the municiplaities just want more and more

Ernst Herbst (Roodepoirt, 2024-07-04)

#3364

We are being robbed and lied to.We need transparency. We need the Municipalities to be dissolved and competent people need to be employed to run this Municipalities.

I'm tired of the financial burden loaded on me by City Power and Nersa .

Mildred stoffels Stoffels (Joburg Gauteng, 2024-07-04)

#3372

This is downright corruption. We are currently paying exorbitant amounts for electricity and now have to pay additional unnecessary cost to line to pockets of corrupt parliamentarians.

Zarina Hoosen (Lenasia, 2024-07-04)

#3373

Outrageous abuse against public having to just pay unilateral increases. How can it be possible for the poorest of the poor. We need proper investigations immediately

Celeste Breytenbach (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

I don't want to be charged a service fee for prepaid.

Tebello Temane (Jhb, 2024-07-04)

#3380

We just cannot keep up...Our Rates and Taxes go up...Electricity rates also increased...but we still have to pay when we have no water or power. Our Living Costs are drowning us we can't buy food just because we have to pay these UNREASONABLE RATES IN ELECTRICITY, WATER AND RATES!

Teresa Roux (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3382

I'm signing because the working class are being milked for each and every cent we have, between food, petrol and interest we cannot afford life in general

Marieta Schutzler (Jhb, 2024-07-04)

#3385

I think it's robbery to now be paying a R200 service fee for a pre paid meter.

Faizel Bhamjee (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3387

How are we able to survive? They just keep taking more and more from us! How much more do you want?

Christina Dixon (Springs, 2024-07-04)

#3388

Clearly state your reason for rejecting the surcharge. Here are some options:
Unfairness: Prepaid users already manage their consumption closely. The surcharge adds an unnecessary burden.
Lack of Transparency: The justification for the surcharge and how the revenue will be used is unclear.
Financial Hardship: The surcharge creates an additional financial strain, especially during difficult economic times.

Robyn Scott (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#3390

We already paying a lot for electricity.

Cliff Lategan (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3391

To scrap R200.00 service

Ntonto Nakedi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3392

I cannot afford an extra R200 per month for my electricity. This was a sudden announcement without any public consultation. We want to know what are these electricity maintenance costs and why they did not allocate this expenditure under the Infrastructure and Development budget?

Victor Zikalala (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#3395

I feel that we are being taxed and charged to the point where we all might either connect illegal like those in squatter camps or join them in being homeless. The hikes is proposterous and I will not comply to this implementation.

Suzette Roos (Georginia, 2024-07-04)

#3397
