(Pretoria, 2018-03-10)

#2847

I want justice in social work profession. NGO social worker are like less proffesional compare to government social workers. Social work proffesion need to be respected as a proffesion not like one certificates.

(Mtubatuba, 2018-03-10)

#2849

The social worker profession is not regarded as a profession, where else it was supposed to be valued more than other professions. Society will never develop without social workers. Social work is even more than a degree because you finish at honours level. But yet you will be still treated like a grade twelve receptionist who even earn more than you especially us who are working with NPO. Looking always worried when you think about the peanut in your account at the end of the month and you need to give care and support to those in need. Without social workers their lives will never be functional. But you will earn less than R 10000. Please help!!!!!!!

(Pretoria, 2018-03-10)

#2850

What is happening in S.A. in relation to pay is unfair and unjust in one of the worthy profession as this one. Fair and just salary scales has always been a long standing battle for some reason. Very high case loads and lack of resources makes is even more challenging. As a result of unfairness especially when it comes to pay, the country lost so many social workers who migrated and to date nothing has changed.

(London, 2018-03-10)

#2851

I'm signing because I'm unemployed and i feel helpless as I'm struggling to do anything without job. I'm sitting at home with my digree

(Mtubatuba, 2018-03-10)

#2852

Im very worried about dissadvantage people because looking at this dep its will dessapear very soon because its seems at if the most in need people are not catered for in South Africa we fall under them as social workers because we cants afford even a bond withi this salary, car and deccent schools fees for our kids yet we went to varsity and we have masters..poor South Africa where is Ubuntu as Nation...

(Durban, 2018-03-10)

#2853

I sign this petitition becouse all da issues mentioned above affects me as well.and another thing I am employed by the Department of Social Development now I am qualified as a Social Worker and yet am still working as a Social Auxiliary Worker. No promotion granted regarding that. Thank you.

(Pietermarizburg, 2018-03-10)

#2854

It is very painful to be a graduate and yet work as a tea lady and a cleaner in a company. The most painful part of it is that I am registered in The Department of Labour as a working person and that makes NSFAS to claim their money back since they assisted during my time of study.

(Durban, 2018-03-10)

#2855

I'm signing because I am hoping that one day I will get a job for my qualification as a social worker.

(Inanda, 2018-03-10)

#2856

I'm signing this petition because i am affected by low salary earned and been practising for 14 years in the same level

(Harding, 2018-03-10)

#2857

I am concerned about not working and there are many unemployed social workers out there. Its painful to study 4 years at University and come back home to stay just because we are not hired. Social workers are needed but we are unemployed, why?

(Ulundi, 2018-03-10)

#2859

I agree with the statement and that I feel despondent going on strike as no one pay attention to our demands and at the end of the day money will be deducted from our salary.

(Ekurhuleni, 2018-03-10)

#2860

I understand the challenges experienced by Social workers and the frustrations of being unemployed. There is little or no recognition of our profession yet we do so much to impact the lives of Citizens of south Africa

(Durban, 2018-03-10)

#2861

I work in an NGO SANCA DBN. I am on a contract which is ending August 2018. If it is renewed it will be for 12 months again. I am 37 years old and still do not own anything because NGO are giving us contacts that we not even sure will be renewed.

We work so hard everyday to help alcohol and drug addicts and their families to change their lifes and become the best people they can also be proud of. I cannot even buy a car or a house yet going for 40.

The government needs to realise we also work very hard even more that government social workers and it is really unfair that we getting paid much less than that. On top of that we don't even have a single benefit. This is really not fair. We all studied and have the same qualification but we earn less than half their salaries.

The previous Minister Bathabile Dlamini has failed us to maximum. We hope the current minister will do us justice.

Also in NGOs we have The Board members from communities who have no idea what social work is and do not even care. They just run organisations to hell and they have no principles. I lost my previous job all of sudden because of the Board that did not comply with DsD as the main funder, hence the organisation was closed and we all lost our jobs. The ending was really traumatic and because of disputes with the Board, we even lost reference for that experience because the Board was dismissed. How can we as Professionals report to a Board that is not educated at all and all members are just community people with no basic education about Social Services? I heard they re opening and already feel for the Social Worker that will work in that organisation.

We want the government to take over all the NGOs and we all receive the same benefits and salaries.

Social Workers salaries are really pathetic when compared to other professions of the same level, such as Occupational Therapists, Phamarcists, Physiotherapists, Optometrists and even Dental Therapists with a 3 year Diploma are earning better salaries.

Since I was born i have not seen any new service areas for social services, where are we supposed to work. Why is the Department of Education not hiring us yet learners are going through so much and obstacles keep building up yet government is expecting learners to excel academically. What are they doing with so much of expectations.

Also can the Department allow old Social Workers to retire. Experience is earned through employment. We you request for 7 years experience in Grade1 where are we supposed to get it? Who is supposed to hire us? Social Workers over the age limit must go to pension we are sick and tired of seeing posts that require so much experience with less jobs for no experience. Why must a social worker stay in Grade1 for 10 years? Which other profession does that honestly? Where is the sense in this? Social must start fighting together we cannot be stuck in one Grade for 10 years, yet we have other professions which qualify for a supervisory position in 4 years.

They keep saying Social Workers are not supposed to strike and they certainly do not. Nurses and Doctors strike every year that is how they earn these salaries and more of a reasonno one cares to respond to us. We were promised change on the SONA, let us see it practically now.

Finally the government will only respond to us if we stand together. Let us do that. We want justice!!!! Equal salaries and benefits for all Social Workers and employment of those that are not employed. We all want full time employment.

Thank you Admin for taking a step foward and hopefully we going somewhere.

(Durban, 2018-03-10)

#2863

Of the way social worker has been treated. I cant earn 10000 like a person who cleans meanwhile I have a four year degree. Psychologist earning triple my salary. What makes us that different from them

(Johannesburg, 2018-03-10)

#2864

(Kwazulu Natal, 2018-03-10)

#2872

Social Workers play such an integral part of rendering services to the people of this country yet work under such challenging circumstAnces in so many ways - poor infrastructure, overload of work, exposed to risk during encounters with clients of varied nature, understaffed, very poor salaries etc etc

(Durban, 2018-03-10)

#2873

I want unemployed social workers to be employed in various departments.

(Vosloorus,Gauteng, 2018-03-10)

#2875

I am signing this form because of the people undermining our profession including government. Social workers do a lot of work but the salary they get is too little though they have a four year degree.

The petition is intend to to improve the Social Work profession and ,subsequently, improve social services recieved by every member of society, especially the poor. Therefore, it would be a great sin to not sign this petition.

(Dundee, 2018-03-12)

#2896

I’m signing this petition because am a recent MSW graduate who has found it difficult to get a decent paying job. Student loan debts are overwhelming and the cost of living is high therefore the yearly salary isn’t sufficient enough to cover up the Social Workers fail living expense. We are underpaid and at times overworked. We are hardly appreciated for the work we do in our communities and positive contributions we are making to make our society a better place.

(Wilmington, 2018-03-12)

#2897

I am signing because I am of the view that Social Workers are the less valued professionals in the Republic of South Africa. Whenever there is a crisis in families or socities, Social Workers are expected to intervene. The conditions that Social Workers work under are bad. There shortages of resources, their salaries are very low. Nobody cares about their problems, concerns, even government. Each Social Worker has a high case load.

Social workers face etreem situation which sometimes endanger their lives, it exposes them to physical harm or/and emotional harm. Social workers are in hospitals suffering from depression because after being a hero of your community you are not able to cope with your own problems particularly those of finances as we all know that we also have to live in this bad economy. We are the lowest paid professionals but the hardest working, everywhere you find us but we are dying of hunger, we can't support our families, something needs to be done.
