PETITION AGAINST EXPLOITATION OF SOCIAL WORK PROFESSION
Comments
#2603
I strongly feel that the profession is not getting the respect that is accorded.Social Workers are overworked and not being paid well. There is no support from the very Council that is being paid. Lots of caseloads that end up not being resolved due to pressure.(Vereeniging, 2018-03-07)
#2605
I feel that its unfair that the Social workers are doing the job that always bring psychological exhaustion and continously exposed to dangerous situations like dealing with the aggressive clients yet this is not acknowledged. I wonder what would the world be if thw social workers can give-up imagine, drugs abusers being left to fill the streets, the mentally disturbed , the aged in Old age homes. South Africans think about this!!(Boksburg, 2018-03-07)

I totally agree with the issues brought forward regarding social work. The salary that social workers earn make people undermine the profession. During my third year practicals a client asked how long does it take to study social work, when I informed her that it is 4 years, she was shocked and mentioned that she thought it was 6 months. Every year I'm reminded that there are no posts for social workers; social workers do not earn much therefore, it should be something that I do for fun I should not consider it as a life-time career. All these frightens me as a student social worker.(Kinross, 2018-03-07)
