I am tired of the injustice that has been done to our profession, the lack of care for our wellbeing financially. I'm also fed up being in the same notch as people with no degrees while I hold a 4 year degree. Its a huge disgrace to us as professionals

#2075

As a professional Social Worker I deserve the best. It is said that perseverance is the mother of success. I persevered for this profession to prosper.

(Polokwane, 2018-03-05)

#2077

Working conditions are not conducive, Social workers are advocates for vulnerable children and families in South Africa however they are oppressed as professionals and they are the least paid professionals with a degree with level entry 8. Those of us in the NPO's face further exploitation with no intervention by the department as the department on pays the NPO's a certain percentage of subsidies. An increase in the Salary and improved working environment and change in the management of the department, will mean the change we so desperately seek.

Our profession is less recognised while it is a scars skill in our country. Social workers are playing a huge role in improving people's lives and health by at the end of the day they earn peanuts. Its a shame.

(Empangeni, 2018-03-05)

#2111

The reason why I am signing this petition because I am of the view that Social Workers or Social Service Professionals are not remunerated accordingly compared to their counter parts (Psychologist, etc). Our government MUST have a respect for us. We cannot even afford to buy houses and pay rent as most of us find ourselves working in remote rural areas. We are expected to make sure that other people's families are functional but on the other hand ours become more dysfunctional. I urge the current government to review salaries of Social Service Professionals. This will also increase morale of these professionals. Our country will as a result be able to deal away with all social ills.

(Kokstad, 2018-03-05)

#2169

I am for the call. My professional counterparts are undermined, underpaid but overworked. When any social issues unfold, it's easy to call a social worker but not compensated as an important occupation in South Africa.

(Cape Town, 2018-03-05)

#2170

(Vryheid, 2018-03-05)

#2173

We need better working conditions which goes hand in hand with proper salaries(most of us higher domestics and can't afford their minimum wage)so it is time all economic factors and demands are met

(Johannesburg, 2018-03-05)

#2175

(Polokwane, 2018-03-05)

(Johannesburg, 2018-03-05)

#2189

Desperate need for higher salary. We have a four year degree and scarce skills in interviewing children assisting our community! we earn much less than a person without our qualification s please help us.

(Kleinmond, 2018-03-05)

(pretoria, 2018-03-05)

I am single mother of two boys but also a social worker for our community's children in need of protection from others who hurt and neglect them. Please mr President help us to feel financially also like professionals.

(Klersdorp, 2018-03-05)

#2195

Because i think our profession is not respected and we r not getting what we deserve.

(Johannesburg, 2018-03-05)

#2197

Getting employed after completing the social work degree is not an easy task. We are required to have at least 1-3 years working experience, which is impossible when you are coming straight from University. Most job posts require one to be in possession of a driver's license, again this is impossible if you come from a poor family like myself and you got through your studies through a bursary. Creating more job and internship opportunities would be very much helpful, especially since social work is a scarce and imperative skill in our country. To address the social ills of our society, immediate attention needs to be given to social work graduates and social workers' working conditions and better salaries.

(Johannesburg, 2018-03-05)

#2198

Social workers are being exploited in sa

(Kleinmond, 2018-03-05)
