Not the right statue for our town

Sinead MC Mullan (Haran) (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#7

Just wouldn't like it in our lovely town. It is not a nice thing to be looking at every day

Aileen Burke (Clare, 2021-05-14)

#9

It's nothing whatsoever to do with the culture or history of our town.

Michelle O connor (Co Clare, 2021-05-14)

#10

I live in ennistymon and the public were not consulted

Annmarie Fleming (clare, 2021-05-14)

#11

I'm signing today because I don't feel this sculpture represents our town. I feel saddened that local people were not consulted and that we have been blacken and criticised all over the media for wanting to have our voices heard. By signing this petition I am no way wishing to criticise or make it a personal issue with the sculptor involved.

Samantha Houlihan (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#15

Local people were not consulted

Caoilfhionn Hogan (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#17

Because the people of Ennistymon were never consulted
About this statue

Kay Garrihy (Ennistymon Co. Clare, 2021-05-14)

#18

People of the town wernt consulted about any of this. It doesn't fit in with ennistymon in any way.

Diane O Connor (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#19

Don't want to see that Puca statue in our market town.

Rachael Montejo (Lahinch, 2021-05-14)

#21

Disgusted with the councils approach to this. No communications with the locals. The place for it is not on Lower Churchill.

Nóirín O'loughlin (Ennistymon Co Clare, 2021-05-14)

#23

NO!! to this Púka statue in Ennistymon

Sinead O'ROURKE (Co Limerick, 2021-05-14)

#28

It won't fit ennistymon.

Sophie Fontaine (Doolin, 2021-05-14)

#29

This sculpture has no bearing on history or culture of Ennistymon.

Trish Sheppard (Ennistymon Clare, 2021-05-14)

#30

I am signing this because I do not believe that this art piece fits the artists brief given. It is a made up association to benefit the artist and not to enhance its location. It is very out of place and I feel an eyesore. There was no consultation to the residents that will have to look at this all day every day and the rest of us that have to pass by it everyday. Ennistymon says No.

Jennie Corry (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#31

I think it is not a suitable sculpture for our town. It is horrendous and will not attract anyone . It has no relevance to our towns history. There are so many other options to choose from.

Lorraine Garrihy (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#35

It’s not fit for where it’s intended

Megan Lacey (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#36

As an artist myself I know how much work went into this piece, but it is horrible and scary to many people. I certainly would not like to see that outside my apartment or anywhere else in this lovely town.z

Sam Bartlett (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#41

Surely our community should have a vote in what we think represents our towns culture, history and heritage!

Tracey O Halloran (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#44

This does not represent the town's history or heritage. There never was a Puca of Ennistymon.

Mary McGlennon (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#45

I think this statue has very little to do with Ennistymon history, I think there are hundreds of other options of statues with relevance to the town

Derek McInerney (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#52

I'm signing because it has no relevance to the area

Damien Crosse (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#54

I think Ennistymon is the wrong place for this work of art. I object to it strongly.

Roddy O’Loghlin (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#57

The statue has no direct relevance to Ennistymon and the proposed location is certainly not appropriate. The residents of the town weren't consulted regards it, if they were then maybe a piece of art that truly reflects Ennistymon for the town that it is and its history would have been chosen.

Catherine Fleming (Pontoon, formerly a resident of Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#59

I’m signing NO !because it’s monstrous evil and ugly and doesn’t represent Ennistymon in any way shape or form Down with that sort of thing !

Geraldine Niven (Mullingar, 2021-05-14)

#61

This has no relevance to the town or it’s history

Sarah O mahony (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#63

This sculpture is not in keeping with the placement, local feelings towards this are such that it's inevitable that it will be vandalised if erected, which represents a shameful waste of money, effort and resources.

Matt Hennigan (Lahinch, 2021-05-14)

#66

Do the right thing and give this project to a local artist that is familiar with ennistymon and its history.

Tracy Coughlan (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#67

It is not in keeping with the Town. Object to the fact that the residents were not consulted on this.

Marie O"Donoghue (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#72

I dont find the statue appropriate for ennistymon never heard of the puca of ennistymon

Mary Burke (Belfast, 2021-05-14)

#73

Lovely statue but does not belong in ennistymon, no relevance to the towns history

Shona Corry (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#77

Out of respect and support for Ennistymon

Tom Dennehy (Cork, 2021-05-14)

#78

It looks stupid and has nothing to do with the town

Noel Flaherty (Dorchester, 2021-05-14)

#81

No consultation with local community - complete lack of respect from state agencies for the local community - not the first project for the town that no local consultation has taken place on .

Denis Hynes (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#84

It's not the correct fit for where suggested.

Conor Flanagan (Ennistymon,, 2021-05-14)

#85

This statue has no relevance to the town the majority dont like it and there was no consultation with the people of the town who have to see it daily. I'm sure something more appropriate can be designed.

Teresa Organ (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#87

Not suitable and we were not consulted.

Enda Haran (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#89

I do not want this monstrosity of a sculpture in our town. It has absolutely no relevance to our town or our culture!

Martin Garrihy (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#91

I feel it doesnt reflect our town id say to Clare Co Co look at Glor or Biddy Early area around Tulla / Feakle area its so not Ennistymon 💛💙🇮🇪

Mary Clarke (Churchill Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#97

I believe this piece does not represent our lovely home... and something that honours our heritage and the people of the town that have gone before us is more appropriate.

Michelle Organ (Ennistymon, Co Clare, 2021-05-14)

#99

I don't want to see the people of Ennistymon represented in a negative way. The process was wrong. The locals were not consulted.
Stop this farce now.

Pauline Stack (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#100

It is wrong to place something like this in view of those who had no say in the process

michael thynne (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#102

It's dose not show the real town , its was a market town lovely place to live

Michael O'Connor (Ennistymon, 2021-05-14)

#104

People should have a say in their local community development

Elizabeth Flanagan (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#105

No public consultation was even considered.

Mary McMahon (Callura, Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#107

The Community were not Consulted.
The Statue does NOT represent the Character or History of the Town.
The Artist is being disingenuous with the Truth when he claims that the objections were caused by the Local Priest.

Brendan Keane (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#111

I don't think the piece is suitable to Ennistymon.

Kevin O'Connor (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#112

I believe that there are many, many other options for a statue for Ennistymon eg something that would explain our town to visitors . There is a photo from 1910 of the water pump at the bottom of the hill with two young children, one each side, this would make a fantastic monument to Ennistymon, it's history and it's young people.

Frank McNamara (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#113

This piece of art has no connections with Ennistymon Folklore. The people of Ennistymon were not consulted about what should be displayed in the town.

Michael O'Loughlin (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#115

I don’t want that statue in Ennistymon. It wasn’t created for us in the first place and we were not consulted about it.

Patricia Dunne (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#117

This would look s totally silly in my home town

Angela Davies (London, 2021-05-15)

#119

It doesn't correctly represent Ennistymon

Colette Lynch (Kilfenora, 2021-05-15)

#122

Total arrogance and condescending nature of the artist. Sculpture has no link to Ennistymon whatsoever and is totally unsuitable for the town

Brendan Scales (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#123

The people of Ennistymon should have a say in what is erected in their town.

Ray Hynes (Quin, 2021-05-15)

#125

The people of Ennistymon need to pick something of relevance and should be involved as we have to look at it every day.

Patrick Flynn (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#130

My home town what a eye sore it would be

Tina O Donnell (derry, 2021-05-15)

#134

I'm against this statue because it's obviously nothing like the Pùca.

If Clare county council and Mr Harte had bothered to consult any of the locals who've had to walk home after a few pints they would know this

Séamus Haran (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#136

I actually don't mind the piece, but the people of Ennistymon don't, and thats what matters.

Barry McGovern (Lahinch, 2021-05-15)

#140

Signing because I reside across the road from this proposed site, which would be in my direct line of vision upstairs and down.

rose oloughlin (ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#141

I’m signing because I do not think that this artwork is suitable in Ennistymon, especially the chosen location.

Brona Galvin byrne (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#143

I am a native of Ennistymon. From Glann.I do not want that monstrocity,in my hometown.

Healy Michael (co.kildare.Ireland, 2021-05-15)

#147

Should be relative to history of the town such as the Old Fair or Mart.

Colette Crowe (Miltown Malbay, 2021-05-15)

#150

The people of ennistymon were not consulted and it’s being turned into the people not knowing art of appreciating it . They would rather the money to be spent on something that shows the real meaning off ennistymon or to be put towards helping the town .

Rose McMahon (London, 2021-05-15)

#152

Clare County Council was Undemocratic as it did not consult the Citizens firstly on WHAT would be acceptable & appropriate for the Town & it in what context a welcome to Visitors
Message could reach an acceptable consensus with the locals.

Ellen Moloney (Clare, 2021-05-15)

#153

I live in Ennistymon and had never heard of the statue until after approval by the council, the artist is talented but his statue has no relevance to the area and he appears to be very arrogant and publicity hungry

Clare Gallagher (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#156

I'm from ennistymon originally and this abomination has no place in ennistymon,we have so many other local character's and heritage that would be more fitting of a statue.

david foley (Quilty, 2021-05-15)

#158

It simply dose not have a place in Ennistymon

Alise Rusmane (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#160

I strongly object to the statue being erected as the location is directly opposite my home and this is not a sight that I or my family want to view every day.

Deirdre Nicholas (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#161

I'm signing because l do not believe "An Pùca" is the correct image for Ennistymon, it doesn't represent the town, its history or indeed its community.p

Patricia McNamara (Clare, 2021-05-15)

#163

This has nothing to do with ennistymon, should be if relevance

Siobhan O Flaherty (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#168

a county council executive plus council elected members completely ignored carrying out any local consultation with residents.

pat savage (drogheda, 2021-05-15)

#171

Stupid idea !!!
I don't blame the artist at all the council and individuals making stupid decisions, not asking the general public (locals residents)
Opinions before spending tax payers money on a statue not fit for purpose .Clare
County council showing true colours again.

Shaun Nicholas (Ennistymon, 2021-05-15)

#172

I don't think the puca statue has any place in Ennistymon .

Maureen Nagle (Liscannor, 2021-05-15)

#177

I funny like the sculpture, has zero relevance to ennistymon and will only downgrade our uprising town

Shiffi O'Dwyer-Greene (Clare, 2021-05-16)

#181

Ennistymon is a family friendly town. I feel that this sculpture would be a negative representation of the town. I also feel that, especially during a global pandemic, a local artist to Clare should have been chosen for the piece. There are many artist locally that would have been delighted to design a piece and create a personal unique design that represents the history and essence of the town.

Dearbháil MacMahon (Miltown Malbay, 2021-05-16)

#182

Totally unsuitable to Ennistymon

James Gallagher (Ennis, 2021-05-16)

#188

It is my opinion that the proposed statue would do nothing to improve or enhance the streetscape of Ennistmon.

Noreen Twomey Walsh (Ennistymon Co. Clare, 2021-05-16)

#190

No consultation with people and artist should be local.

maria gallagher (ennistymon, 2021-05-16)

#195

The statue does not represent ennistymon in any way.

Charlotte Glynn (Gravesend, 2021-05-16)

#199

Locals were not consulted.
Council need to tell us who exactly was at the selection process. Others are being blamed which is unfair. Tell us the truth as to who was at that meeting.

Aindrias Stack (Ennistymon, 2021-05-17)

#200

Totally unsuitable to Ennistymon. No public consultation

Maureen Scales (Ennistymon, 2021-05-17)
