(Bizana, 2018-03-02)

#15

In April I will be unemployed again because the social worker standing in for will be back from maternity leave. I’m also tired of the exploitation and the way social work profession is undermined in this country. We work hard the most, but there is little reward for our work. We are treated as people who dropped out of high school not as professionals who have honours degree.

(Port Elizabeth, 2018-03-02)

(Welkom, 2018-03-02)

A deeper sense of acknowledgement is needed to do the work we do. This is one of the toughest professions to do and yet it has the least respect.

Imagine a South Africa, a present day South Africa without Social Workers, Social Auxiliary Workers or Child and Youth Care Workers... ...unimaginable!

As Social worker who provide essential services to children, women, older person and people with disability in South Africa, my rights are violated and I don't have the tools to provide this service. Furthermore the salary level(7) is insulting to my profession considering that I have Honours Degree, and further OSD need to be reviewed and also have to receive rural allowance. Lastly I want to see my fellow unmployed colleague's be absord immediately.

Social workers are being exploited and I wish to see that change in our country. Many of our country's challenges stem form social ills that can be eradicated using social work services but due to lack of resources, poor working environment n shortage of social workers as a lot are unemployed, those challenges fail to be addressed. The most pressing issue is the unemployment of social workers as the number is growing each year. Im signing this petition as I wish to see social workers being absorbed.
