PETITION FROM RESIDENTS OF MSUNDUZI OF POOR SERVICE DELIVERY

For some time now, we as residents of Msunduzi,have been receiving very poor service delivery. Recently in most cases no service delivery.

We as residents are now saying NO MORE!

We are paying customers and are now demanding service from Msunduzi.

We are aware that Msunduzi is under Administration; however this has got nothing to do with the residents. The primary reasons that Msunduzi finds itself under administration are as follows:-

• Looting by comrades.

• Very poor and pathetic management style. In fact in most cases staff in senior position are not fit to hold office.

• No cost control and supervision of budgets. This goes straight up to Council level.

• No accountability of service delivery. This again goes straight up to Council level.

The following are some of the main areas of poor/no service delivery:-

1. Repairs to reported non-working street lights, are not done for months, after it is reported.
   1. NOTE: Areas where the street lights are not working have become the dens for drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
2. Potholes not being repaired. In fact most if not all roads in Msunduzi needs resurfacing. Potholes are a major cause of damages to vehicles, especially repairs and replacement of tyres, which are costly.
3. Non maintenance/cutting of grass and other vegetation,of verges, pathways and vacant grounds.
   1. NOTE: Areas where the non-maintenance/cutting of grass and other vegetation,are not done have become the dens for drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
4. Waste removal. Waste not removed timeously iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis frustrating,time consuming and added costs; as in most cases waste has to bag again due to damages by scavengers, dogs and monkeys.

For items 1 to 3 above, Msunduzi is given 3 months to resolve these issues.

For item 4 above, any waste not removed timeously will be collected and dumped at the City Hall. This is not a threat, but informing Msunduzi our course of action. No reason/s for not removing waste timeously by Msunduzi will be accepted,as these will only be excuses, to which we residents are now fed up.

Further note that after 3 months residents reserve their rights to engage on a campaign of non-payment for services.

Any attempts by Msunduzi to start disconnections will be met by a resistance force, not as yet seen in Pietermaritzburg.
