Selective attendance to Matric Farewell 2019

  1. We, the undersigned, come forth to agree that we accept that Uitsig High aspires to obtain an image through which they enforce rules that learners need to abide to.

As learners of Uitsig High we also acknowledge the pledge we signed that stated that learners with more than 300 debit points will not be allowed to attend the Matric Dance.

Matric Dance being taken away from some students was meant to punish those students as individuals, in support of that, we feel that learner’s characters shouldn’t determine whether they go to matric dance or not. Others feel as if they’re being challenged by the system because they’re being victimized in accordance with their personalities, henceforth, resulting to this once in a lifetime privilege being taken away.

Another problem we face is that parents were informed about their children not being able to attend the event a month before which isn’t quite ideal taking into consideration that most and if not all of us have already started preparing. It was going to be a completely different story if we had been informed 3/4 months prior, something of this kind should have been communicated to parents and students well in advance to avoid financial disposal and unnecessary conflicts. If the process was followed as mentioned this ‘punishment’ would’ve been acceptable.C646ECFE-0D40-4068-AECA-9891E3028F11.jpeg

The source of our frustration arises from inconvenience and victimization. We are not saying that we can do as we please and not face consequences, what we are trying to say is that convenience is a two way street and that you cannot hold something that can contain great memories because of one’s character.
