Nigeria Federal Govt Allow Free, Fair & Credible Election In Edo State

2024-09-11 00:58:47
I’m writing to you as a Nigerian resident in the UK.

I’m representing a group of Nigerians here in the UK who are concerned with the political situation in Nigeria. We thought it would be wise to draw the attention of the UK Govt and indeed the world to the political crisis in Edo State, Nigeria, especially the forthcoming off-season governorship election in the State, being one of the states in the south-south region in the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

There are growing concerns about the attitude of the central government, which is held by the All Progressive Congress, APC, to using the federally controlled Police force to intimidate, harass and arrest members of the opposition party in the state of Edo, which is currently in the hands of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Part of this anxiety was seen last week, Thursday, 18th of July, 2024, when the APC led thugs into the capital city with guns aided by federal police in an attempt to take over the government by force.

We are also armed with some video clips in which the current President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, openly told his party, APC, members that he was going to "give them the state," which means he would circumvent the people favour his party through electoral manipulations and use the military and the police to intimidate the opposition party, which is currently happening.

There is a lot of video evidence of this claim, and I will present them.

The EU representatives had visited the PDP candidate to assess the situation. I am using this medium to initiate a petition to escalate the problem further and ensure that President Bola Tinubu allows for a peaceful and transparent election in the state.

 Thank you very much.

 Warm regards!
