PROTEST MARCH - WEDNESDAY AUGUST 17th 2011 @ 1.30pm outside the Council Chambers in Mold
2011-08-12 11:38:47
WEDNESDAY AUGUST 17th 2011 @ 1.30pm outside the Council Chambers in Mold and up to Theatre Clwyd
Prior to full council meeting at 2.30pm.
SYFFLAG is calling on its members, who come from all five Welsh-medium Schools in Flintshire, to attend this demonstration in opposition of FCC plans (school modernisation) to re-locate Ysgol Gymraeg Gwenffrwd (a Welsh-medium primary school) onto an English-medium ‘super school/learning community’ campus -alongside three English-medium primary schools and an English-medium secondary school (Holywell High) on the current high-school site in Holywell.
SYFFLAG, set up by Parents of Welsh-medium Education pupils within Flintshire, is totally opposed to FCC school modernisation ‘Secondary School Review: Holywell’ as NO consideration has been given to Welsh-medium Education. This is a true concern for the wider community and organisations such as RHAG (All Wales Movement supporting parents of Welsh-medium schools), and ‘Menter Iaith’(supporting the Welsh Language Board).
Many Flintshire parents are not Welsh-speaking themselves, but have made a conscious decision to enhance the opportunities for their children by being totally fluent both in Welsh and English. The future of the Welsh language is seriously threatened in the Holywell area, and the North East of Wales, should this FCC plan go ahead.
Come and show your support to Ysgol Gwenffrwd next Wednesday. It is really important that councillors and education officers gauge the level of dissatisfaction relating to this modernisation plan. There has been a total lack of open and educated discussions, meaningful consultations, as well as a lack of vision for the development of Welsh-medium education in Flintshire. The whole process needs to be questioned.
GORYMDAITH BROTEST SYFFLAG: MERCHER, 17 AWST 1.30yp rhwng Siambr y Cyngor a Theatr Clwyd, Yr Wyddgrug,
cyn cyfarfod o’r Cyngor Llawn am 2.30yp.
Mae SyFFLAG yn galw ar ei aelodau (sy’n dod o’r pum ysgol cyfrwng Cymraeg a geir yn Sir y Fflint) i orymdeithio i ddangos gwrthwynebiad i gynllun Cyngor Sir y Fflint- sef y cynllun i adleoli ysgol Gymraeg Gwenffrwd, Treffynnon ar gampws y ‘super school/ learning community’ fel y’i gelwid, yn Nhreffynnon.
Mae SyFflag (Rhieni dros addysg Gymraeg yn Sir y Fflint) yn gwrthwynebu’n llwyr gynnig Awdurdod Addysg Sir y Fflint i ad-leoli Ysgol Gymraeg Gwenffrwd ar gampws saesneg ei gyfrwng yn Nhreffynnon (ynghyd â thair ysgol gynradd saesneg eu cyfrwng ac ysgol Uwchradd saesneg ei chyfrwng (Holywell High). Mae dyfodol Addysg Cyfrwng Cymraeg a’r Iaith Gymraeg yn y fantol yma- ac mae hyn yn bryder gwirioneddol i’r gymuned ehangach gan gynnwys mudiadau fel Menter Iaith a RHAG.
Dewch yn llu i ddatgan cefnogaeth I Ysgol Gymraeg Gwenffrwd ac i achub dyfodol yr Iaith Gymraeg yn ardal Treffynnon a Gogledd Ddwyrain Cymru. Mae’n bwysig fod y Cynghorwyr a’r Swyddogion Addysg yn ymwybodol fod anniddigrwydd mawr ynglyn â’r cynllun moderneiddio hwn, ac ynglyn ar diffyg trafodaethau agored a gweledigaeth sydd wedi dod i’r amlwg.
