I have been a resident of Columbus for over 20 years, and in that time i have considered the Short North to be the ‘safe zone’ as a young and struggling gay person. It has always been welcoming to me, so much so that i moved here 2 years ago. It represents so much to me, and it is important to recognize how gay people have influenced and revitalized this neighborhood. It would be a tribute to all of those who have helped it to be a safe haven for all of these years to so many like myself.

(Italian Village, 2018-11-06)

#116

I am gay and proud of my city :)

(Columbus, 2018-11-06)

Because the short north has been a welcoming space to the lgbtq community my entire life. As an adult Bi woman, it is my home, where I run a business, and where I socialize. As we grow and change in the Short North, our roots of being a home to the lgbtq community should continue to stay strong

(Columbus, 2018-11-06)
