Petition against implementation of a low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) in Greenwich without exemptions for local reaidents

I live in Greenwich and I run a business in Greenwich. This proposed closing of roads will force me to move my business an most likely make my local employees redundant. It will be a disaster for independent local Greenwich businesses.

These Schemes do not stop pollution or volume of traffic from the borough, it just displaces both onto already busy roads in that area! It is discriminatory and unfair. It splits communities, everyone deserves clean air, not just the privileged few

I completely agree with the petition and we are getting into massive issues dropping off our daughter at school - we might have to move because of this

As a local resident I fully support the views expressed above.

The stated aims of the LTN won’t be achieved

I listened to the recorded overview and scrutiny call in sub committee on 31 July 2024. The issue of air quality was raised many times yet no consideration has been given to allowing electric vehicles to continue using these local roads. It was obvious from the meeting that the majority of local residents issues and requirements have been ignored.

Greenwich council have not adequately consulted local residents, the scheme is ill conceived and arbitrary especially for local residents. The council have no mandate to force this through and to me this feels like a massive overreach.

As a resident in Charlton / Blackheath standard area I envisage more traffic in my local area as a result of these restrictions as traffic will not stop, it will just need redirection and ‘short cuts’. As people use short cuts under stress they can sometimes forget the Highway Code so I foresee dangerous driving on residential roads as they navigate the delays and redirection

I am a local resident who drives electric and should not be trapped in my street during peak times. I am unable to get my baby to nursery and make it to work in time (a job I need to be able to afford to live here! ). As a female I do not feel safe walking in the dark mornings and evenings alone with my baby.

This is a huge inconvenience and it will not reduce traffic but it makes all of our lives very difficult for those that live in the area. It will cause huge traffic jams and it idling engines will give off more emissions. Often there is no other choice but to drive.

I strongly agree with the statement on this petition. Enough is enough. Stop bleeding us dry, please 🙏🏾 for things that we are legitimately entitled to.
